Mission and Objectives

Mission

AICA’s mission is to foster a culture of sustainability through environmental communication, education, awareness-raising, and collaboration among citizens, institutions, and organizations. The association promotes responsible behaviours and supports the ecological transition at local, national, and international levels.

Objectives

AICA works to increase environmental awareness and sensitivity among citizens, businesses, public authorities, and organizations, contributing to the adoption of more responsible and sustainable behaviours. To achieve this goal, the association develops and coordinates communication campaigns and information initiatives focused on sustainability, environmental protection, and the circular economy, using innovative tools and accessible language tailored to diverse audiences.

A key element of AICA’s work is the creation and strengthening of national and international collaboration networks, fostering dialogue and cooperation among institutions, associations, companies, professionals, and environmental experts. Through these networks, AICA facilitates the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices, encouraging shared learning and the development of joint initiatives.

AICA also considers education and training to be fundamental drivers of the ecological transition. The association designs and delivers training programmes for a wide range of target groups, including citizens, professionals, associations, and public administrations, with a particular focus on developing green skills and communication competences related to environmental issues. In this context, AICA also supports the professional development of environmental communicators, helping to improve the quality, effectiveness, and accuracy of scientific and environmental communication.

The association regularly organizes events, conferences, seminars, and awareness-raising campaigns that provide opportunities for discussion, knowledge-sharing, and active participation. At the same time, it promotes research, scientific dissemination, and specialized publishing activities, with the aim of making reliable and up-to-date information on sustainability and environmental protection widely accessible.

AICA develops educational programmes and learning activities for schools at all levels, contributing to the growth of a new generation of citizens who are more aware of environmental challenges and their role in building a sustainable future.

Through projects, campaigns, and strategic partnerships, the association promotes and disseminates successful examples of environmental communication, encouraging active community participation and supporting the development of a shared environmental culture.

Overall, AICA serves as a meeting point for knowledge, skills, and stakeholders from different sectors, creating connections that generate positive and long-lasting impacts on territories, organizations, and society as a whole.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

AICA can contribute to the Network in Italy by leveraging more than twenty years of experience in environmental communication, awareness-raising, training, and stakeholder engagement. Through its network of public authorities, NGOs, educational institutions, companies, and environmental professionals, AICA can facilitate the dissemination of the Network’s activities and objectives, increasing visibility and participation at local, regional, and national levels.

The association can support the Network through the design and implementation of communication and outreach strategies, drawing on its expertise in developing large-scale awareness campaigns such as the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) and Let’s Clean Up Europe. AICA can also contribute to the creation of communication materials, digital content, dissemination plans, and engagement activities tailored to different target groups.

Thanks to its experience in education and capacity building, AICA can organize training activities, workshops, webinars, and peer-learning initiatives aimed at citizens, educators, public administrations, associations, and professionals. The association can also facilitate the exchange of best practices among Network members and promote knowledge-sharing opportunities through participatory methodologies and innovative educational tools.

Furthermore, AICA can mobilize its national and international partnerships, including connections with European sustainability networks, to strengthen cooperation, encourage stakeholder involvement, and identify opportunities for joint projects and initiatives. Through its editorial activities, events, conferences, and communication channels, including the online magazine Envi.info, AICA can support the dissemination of project results and amplify the Network’s impact across Italy.

By combining communication expertise, training capacity, project management experience, and a strong multi-stakeholder network, AICA can act as a catalyst for collaboration, helping the Network reach a wider audience and generate lasting environmental and social impact in Italy.
