With approximately 18,000 members, the Cooperativa de Solidariedade Social do Povo Portuense (CPP) has been recognized as the equivalent of a Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS) since 1980 and therefore holds Public Utility Status. We have been operating in the Greater Porto area since 1900, promoting citizenship and social protection.
Our work includes providing funeral benefits through a dedicated reserve fund, as well as delivering healthcare services through our medical clinics and home-care services. At the same time, we organize a wide range of local social, cultural, sports, and educational activities for our members and the wider community, always following a collaborative, network-based approach with both public and private partners.
CPP is a member of the Porto Social Action Commission (CLASP) and develops a variety of social projects in partnership with the Polytechnic Institute of Porto and several private universities.

Our mission is to:
Provide our members with a healthier, more comfortable, and active future by improving their quality of life. We aim to make a meaningful contribution to society through high-quality, value-added initiatives that leave a lasting impact and help the people of Porto regain the strength of an active and respected voice within the region.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
CPP has sought to promote:
- Intercultural dialogue and debates within the local community;
- Activities that bring together Portuguese youth and migrant communities;
- Exchanges with associations and organizations from other Mediterranean countries;
- Cultural events that celebrate diversity and foster intercultural dialogue.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
We would like to join the Anna Lindh Foundation Network because we believe that intercultural dialogue is essential for building more inclusive, participatory, and supportive societies. Through its social, educational, cultural, and community-based work, the Cooperativa do Povo Portuense seeks to create opportunities for cooperation between diverse communities, encouraging civic participation, mutual understanding, and the appreciation of cultural diversity.
The Anna Lindh Foundation Network represents a unique platform for establishing partnerships, exchanging good practices, and developing projects with both local and international impact. By becoming a member of the network, we hope to strengthen the work of the Cooperativa do Povo Portuense, learn from other organizations across the Euro-Mediterranean region, and contribute to initiatives that promote active citizenship, social inclusion, and the building of bridges between cultures.
