General Information

Hold My Hand CY is a refugee-women-led non-profit organisation based in Nicosia, Cyprus, founded in 2024. It is run by a small team of three, combining lived experience of displacement with professional backgrounds in science communication, community development, strategic planning, and marketing, supported by volunteers and guest contributors as needed. The organisation operates voluntarily and is currently in the process of seeking grants and institutional funding to support and expand its work.

Mission and Objectives

Our mission is to open access to skills, knowledge, opportunity, voice, and community for women in displacement, on their own terms. We work across structured programmes, public awareness, content creation, and advocacy, with a focus on amplifying the voices and expertise of displaced women in Cyprus and beyond.

Main Projects / Activities

She Builds / هي تبني — a free digital skills and entrepreneurship programme for women in displacement at Kofinou Reception Centre, Cyprus. Running from May to November 2026, the programme covers ideation, business concept development, marketing, content creation, business planning, and legal basics, culminating in a graduation project. Sessions are delivered in Arabic and English across 24 weekly sessions.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Cyprus sits at a unique crossroads, geographically, politically, and in terms of the displaced and refugee communities who pass through or settle here. HMH CY brings a grounded, community-led perspective on what it means to work with women in displacement in this context. We can contribute through our programme experience, our public communications, and our commitment to amplifying the voices of displaced women, offering the Network a direct link to one of the most underrepresented communities in Cypriot civil society.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Hold My Hand CY works at the intersection of displacement, women's empowerment, and access to knowledge, areas that sit at the heart of the Anna Lindh Foundation's mission. The women we work with, and the team behind HMH, are themselves part of the broader Mediterranean and Arab world that the ALF network spans. Joining would connect us to organisations across the region working on shared challenges, open space for meaningful collaboration with groups who understand the communities we work with, and create visibility for refugee-women-led work in Cyprus, a country at the crossroads of the Euro-Mediterranean region.
