MagBeat Community Rhythm Foundation is a Hungarian non-profit organization promoting community music-making, intercultural understanding, creativity, and social inclusion through participatory rhythm and percussion activities. The foundation currently operates with 5 active volunteers and an annual budget of approximately EUR 7,000, generated primarily through participation fees from educational programs and fees for delivering community music workshops and events.
Our activities include community drum circles, percussion workshops, music education programs for children and adults, school-based rhythm sessions, public cultural events, and inclusive music activities that strengthen social cohesion and well-being. We are currently developing a travelling music education program to bring rhythm-based workshops to schools in disadvantaged regions of Hungary.
Our main partners include cultural festivals, music venues, educational institutions, and community organizations. Recent collaborations include activities with the House of Music Hungary and various cultural festivals and community events across Hungary.
Mission and Objectives
MagBeat Community Rhythm Workshop Foundation aims to strengthen human connections and social cohesion through participatory music-making. We believe that rhythm and collective musical experiences create a universal language that brings people together across cultural, social, and generational boundaries.
Our mission is to promote community music, percussion culture, creativity, and active cultural participation. Through drum circles, workshops, educational activities, and public cultural events, we create inclusive spaces where people can meet, collaborate, express themselves, and experience the benefits of collective artistic engagement.
Our objectives include fostering intercultural dialogue, encouraging mutual understanding and respect, supporting personal and community well-being, and expanding access to meaningful cultural experiences. We strive to build open and welcoming communities where diversity is valued and where music serves as a tool for connection, participation, and social engagement.
Main Projects / Activities
The Foundation's main activities focus on community music-making, rhythm education, and cultural participation. We regularly organize community drum circles, percussion workshops, and small-group educational programs for adults and beginners, creating accessible opportunities for learning, creativity, and social connection.
We also deliver rhythm-based sessions in schools and children's camps, where participants can experience music as a tool for cooperation, communication, and self-expression. In addition, we offer interactive educational presentations introducing traditional percussion instruments and musical cultures from different parts of the world, with a particular focus on Middle Eastern, North African and West African traditions and community music practices.
The Foundation participates in cultural festivals, community events, and public programs across Hungary. We also collaborate with leaders of community drumming and percussion groups in Central Europe, particularly in Slovenia and Poland, through cultural exchange, knowledge sharing, and the exchange of best practices in community music and participatory arts.
Through these activities, we promote intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding, inclusion, well-being, and active participation in cultural life.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
We would actively contribute to the Hungarian ALF Network through participation in the planning and implementation of joint projects, events, and initiatives. Drawing on our experience in community music and participatory arts, we can organize interactive drum circles, rhythm workshops, and community-building music activities as part of ALF events and programs in Hungary.
We are also committed to promoting ALF activities and opportunities through our communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and community networks. In addition, we would be happy to share our expertise in community engagement, cultural participation, and inclusive arts-based methodologies, while learning from and collaborating with other network members.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
We would like to join the ALF Network because we see it as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, intercultural dialogue, and the development of new partnerships at both national and international levels. We are interested in connecting with organizations that share similar values and work in the fields of culture, community engagement, education, and social inclusion.
We are also eager to learn from the experiences and best practices of other network members and to explore opportunities for collaboration on joint projects and initiatives.
In addition, we would like to stay informed about funding opportunities, grants, and calls for proposals offered by the Anna Lindh Foundation, as well as other opportunities shared within the network. We believe that membership would help strengthen our capacity, expand our international connections, and increase the impact of our work in promoting community participation and intercultural understanding through music.
