Democracy and community development, Environment/Sustainable development, ResearchGeneral Information
We were founded in 2017 as the 47th spin-off of the University of Padua, the first from the Department of Political Science, as part of the Master’s Program for Managers of Sustainable Local Development (MSLS).
We support the public sector, the nonprofit sector, and small and medium-sized enterprises in their role as key players in sustainable local development.
How? Through participatory co-design, we bring together the various local stakeholders and work with them to create shared pathways for the economic and social development of the region.
Our experience as a spin-off of the University of Padua allows us to apply and share the technological, scientific, social, and relational knowledge acquired in the academic setting.
Mission and Objectives
Our vision: Working together to navigate the economic and social transition toward sustainable regional development
Our mission: To create public goods for the community by bringing tools for dialogue, technological expertise, scientific resources, social innovations, and interpersonal skills to local areas, with the aim of transforming socio-economic prospects toward a new vision of sustainable development
Main Projects / Activities
Facilitating, leading, and managing working groups using facilitation methods and tools (both analog and digital) for collaborative design, with the aim of gathering needs, ideas, and proposals from various stakeholders and community members. This approach fosters social innovation and the sharing of solutions at the local level.
Support for stakeholder mapping, the establishment of collaborative governance structures, the drafting of agreements and protocols, and the management of negotiation and mediation processes, with a view to promoting transparency, cooperation, and the maximization of shared outcomes.
Analysis of the social context in which a project is situated; identification of objectives and stakeholders; development of indicators and metrics to measure outcomes and impacts (including in light of the 2030 Agenda); risk analysis and planning of mitigation strategies. Application of the Theory of Change to align the mission and vision with the desired outcomes.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
As a University Spin-off, we are committed to transfering knowledge from academia to the territories and measuring the impacts of all the initiatives we take part in. We have developed a methodological approach, Evidence-Based Maieutic Design, which supports analytical research and robust decision making.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
We look forward to collaborating with other member organizations to promote stakeholder and community engagement in decision-making processes and generate measurable impacts.
