Tango No Limits GbR is an independent cultural and educational platform based in Erfurt, Germany, specializing in performing arts, cultural integration, and gender diversity through dance. Backed by robust regional partnerships, our work is co-funded and supported by key public institutions such as Kulturdirektion Erfurt (Erfurt Culture Office), JenaKultur, Studierendenwerk Thüringen, and the University of Erfurt. Our high-impact community productions have gained significant media recognition, including feature coverage in Germany's regional press (Thüringer Allgemeine) for our sold-out stage shows and international television features on Deutsche Welle (DW Español) highlighting our socio-political work in queer dance methodologies.

Mission and Objectives
Our core mission is to reposition Argentine Tango as a powerful vehicle for social transformation, diversity, and intercultural dialogue within Europe and the Mediterranean region. Tango No Limits aims to decentralize artistic spaces and challenge heteronormative conventions within traditional dance formats. Through the concepts of fluid role-exchange and gender neutrality, we intentionally deconstruct rigid historical boundaries to create safe, inclusive, and accessible spaces for all individuals, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or background. Our primary objective is to promote cross-border artistic integration, celebrate multiculturalism, and harness performing arts to spark critical public discourse around migration and contemporary social inclusion.
Main Projects / Activities
*Begegnung Arte Latino Diverso*: An interdisciplinary, cross-city cultural initiative that utilizes dance, body expression, and academic discourse as active tools for social change. This project explores international migration and new gender roles through a migratory performance and workshop format. Location: Erfurt, Germany, 2026.
Tango Queer Burlesque: An international performing arts co-production ("The Marginal Embrace Between Germany and Argentina") developed with the potentail cooperation with the Goethe-Institut International Coproduction Fund. The project connects marginalized artistic expressions, queer tango and cabaret-burlesque, to address historical repression while initiating a trans-historical dialogue on stage. Location, Erfurt, Jena, Weimar, Germany, 2025 and 2026.
Community & Educational Outreach: We host specialized educational workshops, lecture-demstrations, and public roundtables in collaboration with universities and cultural networks to examine the sociopolitical impact of inclusive art.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Tango No Limits can actively enrich the German National ALF Network through our proven track record in cultural mediation, institutional fund management, and strong regional roots in Thuringia. Managed by a DAAD Ambassador, Jean Manchego (Master degree in Global Communicacion in the Erfurt University), we bridge academic research in global communication with grassroots cultural activism, allowing us to easily engage diverse local and migrant audiences. We bring a solid network of established local partners who regularly co-produce our artistic vision (including local municipalities and student unions), offering the network practical expertise in securing public funding frameworks. Furthermore, our strong media presence (DW and local press) provides an excellent vehicle to boost the visibility of ALF-backed initiatives within the German cultural scene.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
We wish to join the Anna Lindh Foundation Network to expand our regional roots in Germany into a broader Euro-Mediterranean cooperative framework. As an organization deeply invested in using performative arts for social inclusion, gender fluidity, and community integration, our goals directly align with the ALF’s commitment to nurturing inclusive societies through cultural diversity. Joining this network will allow us to share our unique methodologies of using dance as a non-verbal tool for mutual understanding. Furthermore, it offers us a vital platform to build equitable, dialogue-oriented partnerships with Mediterranean cultural agents, such as in Matera or Tétouan, enabling us to co-create cross-border initiatives that amplify marginalized voices.
