General Information

We are a non-profit organisation that works with parental support for newly arrived parents in north east of Gothenburg and Hisingen. The organisation employs cultural interpreters and birth doulas. We spread information and knowledge about society and parenthood in Sweden. We are about 20 employees. We co-operate with the municipality, the region and other actors.

Mission and Objectives

We help newly arrived parents, mainly mothers, to be part of Swedish society. We offer knowledge about childbirth, support during childbirth, parenting in a new country, support in contact with Swedish authorities, Swedish language training, etc.

Main Projects / Activities

"Cultural interpreters" provide information and knowledge through courses and trainings in different languages. We offer new mums help before and during childbirth. We work with Poseidon housing company to strengthen the role of parents of school children. We co-operate with the social services in the north east of Gothenburg. We have the MentorMammor project in Bergsjön.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We have extensive experience of working in a segregated neighbourhood and a so-called particularly vulnerable area. We have a great understanding and knowledge of the needs of newly arrived parents, especially mothers. We have a very large network of parents in different language groups. We have extensive experience of working with municipalities, regions, civil society and politicians. We are happy to share our knowledge.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We want to be part of a larger network. We want to be able to share our experience and also benefit from the experience and knowledge of others.
