Gwana for Arts & Development has been established in 2009 as a sustainable youth artistic initiative in Alexandria, Egypt. transformed in 2021 to be a non-governmental organization (NGO), aims to develop society and empower youth using different shapes of performing arts.

Mission and Objectives

Mission

To empower children and youth and support social development through performing arts, creative learning, and community-based cultural programs.

Objectives:
- Use arts for social change by addressing community issues through performances and dialogue.
- Increase access to safe, inclusive arts programs for kids and young people from all backgrounds.
- Develop children’s & youth creativity and confidence through theatre, music, and artistic workshops.

Main Projects / Activities

Our Most Important Projects:

1) Saqiet Gwana
A theatre and performing arts space in Alexandria that welcomes both local and international talent.
It serves as an open cultural hub for performances, artistic exchange, and community engagement.

2) Gwana Kids
A seasonal performing arts school for children and teens (ages 5–17).
The program offers diverse artistic workshops and events that build creativity, confidence, expression, and teamwork.

3) Gwana Choir
A youth choir that develops vocal and music performance skills among young talents.
The choir also helps preserve and document local heritage through traditional songs and cultural music.

4) Gwana Drama & Acting School
A specialized program offering a series of drama and theatre workshops.
It helps participants build acting skills and practical knowledge in theatre management and stage production.

Gwana can become a “culture-to-community impact” partner in the ALF local network by turning arts into real social impact.
we promotes cultural dialogue across the Mediterranean through the arts, while advancing inclusion, youth engagement, and social cohesion we are also connecting heritage with innovation and delivers scalable, community-level outcomes aligned with ALF priorities.
