General Information

Egypt Peace for Development and Human Rights was established in 2017 as a non-partisan, non-profit civil society organization. It aims to promote a culture of human rights, support democracy and the rule of law, advance individual freedoms, and combat all forms of discrimination, in pursuit of justice and the protection of human dignity, which constitutes the core of rights as affirmed in the Preamble of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The organization has held consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2023. It is also a member of the Egyptian National Chapter of the African Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC), and a member of the Egyptian Network of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures. Egypt-Peace is officially registered in accordance with the Egyptian Law on Civil Associations under Registration No. (2410) of 2017.

Mission and Objectives

Vision of Egypt-Peace
An inclusive Egyptian society that benefits from sustainable development founded on social inclusion, full respect for human rights, and the principles of good governance.
Mission of Egypt-Peace
Egypt-Peace contributes to the realization of international and national sustainable development goals by promoting and protecting human rights, strengthening social cohesion and community peace, empowering marginalized and vulnerable groups and communities, and advancing the principles of good governance.
To achieve its mission, Egypt-Peace adopts a comprehensive and integrated approach that includes monitoring and documentation, engagement with national, regional, and international human rights mechanisms, capacity-building initiatives, and public awareness-raising.

Main Projects / Activities

1. National, Regional, and International Human Rights Mechanisms Programme
Through this programme, Egypt-Peace seeks to leverage its consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), as well as its membership and established relations with a range of national, African, Arab, and Euro-Mediterranean forums. This is pursued through the systematic monitoring and documentation of human rights conditions, follow-up on compliance with national legal frameworks and relevant international and regional human rights treaties and instruments, and the preparation of parallel reports, submissions, and public policy recommendations. The programme also provides platforms for dialogue and engagement to discuss relevant human rights issues.
At the national level, Egypt-Peace works to monitor the human rights situation, analyze legislation and public policies, prepare independent studies and reports, and participate in relevant national dialogues. These efforts aim to support the alignment of laws and practices with the Egyptian Constitution and international obligations, while strengthening the principles of transparency and accountability.

2. Peacebuilding Programme
The Peacebuilding Programme aims to strengthen social peace and community cohesion by promoting a culture of peace, countering hate speech and discrimination, and advancing the values of peaceful coexistence and respect for diversity, in line with human rights principles.
Within this programme, Egypt-Peace focuses on addressing hate speech and incitement based on religion, ethnicity, race, gender, or legal status, given their direct impact on social stability. This includes monitoring and analyzing such discourse, assessing its impacts, implementing awareness-raising and media-related activities, and promoting alternative narratives grounded in human dignity, equality, and non-discrimination.

3. Programme on Supporting Marginalized Groups and Communities
This programme aims to promote and protect the rights of groups and communities at risk of marginalization and exclusion, and to address forms of exclusion, discrimination, and inequality through a comprehensive approach grounded in human rights and social development. The programme seeks to ensure equitable access to resources and services, strengthen social protection systems, and empower the most vulnerable groups to actively participate in community life.

4. Programme on Promoting Good Governance and the Integrity of Public Elections
This programme aims to strengthen the principles of good governance, consolidate the values of transparency, accountability, and the rule of law, and support meaningful public participation in public affairs, thereby contributing to the protection of human rights and the achievement of sustainable development.
Within this programme, Egypt-Peace focuses on combating corruption as one of the most significant challenges negatively affecting the effectiveness of public institutions, hindering social justice, and undermining trust between citizens and the State. This includes raising awareness of the risks and impacts of corruption, promoting transparency in the management of public resources, and strengthening the role of civil society in social accountability and public oversight

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

As a member of the Egyptian Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation, Egypt-Peace is committed to actively contributing to the Network by promoting intercultural dialogue, peacebuilding, and social cohesion. We can contribute by sharing our field experience, best practices, and successful community-based initiatives with other Network members, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, civic engagement, and dialogue across cultural and social divides.
We also aim to collaborate with fellow organizations to design and implement joint projects, campaigns, and capacity-building activities that address common societal challenges. Through organizing workshops, dialogue sessions, and public events, we will support the Network’s mission of fostering mutual understanding, tolerance, and respect for diversity.
Additionally, we will contribute by engaging young people and local communities in the Network’s activities, amplifying their voices, and ensuring inclusive participation, especially for marginalized groups. By maintaining active communication, participating in Network meetings, and supporting regional and national initiatives, Misr Al-Salam Organization seeks to strengthen the impact and sustainability of the Network in Egypt.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Egypt-Peace wishes to continue as a member of the Anna Lindh Foundation Network because the Network represents a unique and impactful platform for intercultural dialogue, peacebuilding, and cooperation across the Euro-Mediterranean region. Being part of the ALF Network allows us to exchange knowledge, experiences, and good practices with diverse civil society actors who share common values of dialogue, inclusion, and respect for cultural diversity.
Continued membership enables our organization to strengthen its institutional capacity, expand partnerships, and contribute more effectively to addressing social polarization, intolerance, and exclusion at the local and national levels. Through the Network, we are able to engage in meaningful regional initiatives, access capacity-building opportunities, and amplify the voices of youth and local communities.
We believe that sustained engagement within the ALF Network will enhance our impact, support the sustainability of our peace-oriented programs, and allow us to actively contribute to advancing the Foundation’s mission of fostering mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence in Egypt and the wider region.
