General Information

Adaleh Center for Human Rights Studies, founded in 2003 by Asem Rababa, is a non-profit organization focused on human rights. It includes two main units: the Legal Aid Unit and the Training and Capacity Building Unit. The center employs 8 full-time staff, and is governed by a board of 12, including Adv. Rababa (Executive President) and Adv. Luna Sabbah (Executive Director). Adaleh offers legal assistance to migrant workers, organizes seminars, publishes research, and runs training workshops and projects. It collaborates with key partners such as Heinrich Boll Stiftung, Porticus Foundation, and various UN organizations such as the International Organization for Migration, leveraging these relationships to support its mission through joint initiatives and project-based funding. The annual budgetary resources range from JOD 150 000 to JOD 200 000

Mission and Objectives

Adaleh is dedicated to advancing and protecting human rights in Jordan and the Arab world, notably by empowering marginalized groups and victims of human rights violations to assert and defend their rights. To this end, Adaleh provides direct legal assistance, capacity-building initiatives, and training workshops. Through its initiatives, Adaleh aims to foster a society rooted in justice, equality, and inclusivity. The center strives to contribute to the common effort of creating a safe, fair, and discrimination-free environment, guided by the values of human dignity, freedom, and democratic governance. The center also believes in the transformative power of innovation, and thus integrates technology and digital tools to amplify human rights advocacy, foster exchange, and strengthen cross-cultural dialogue based on mutual understanding and tolerance. Additionally, Adaleh places a strong emphasis on empowering women and youth, particularly in civic participation and democracy, as essential drivers of sustainable change in the region.

Main Projects / Activities

Adaleh has implemented various projects and activities focused on human rights, gender equality, youth, and civic participation. Currently, Adaleh provides direct legal assistance to domestic migrant workers who have experienced human rights violations or were victims of human trafficking, offering support ranging from consultations to court disputes. This year, Adaleh signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Organization for Migration to strengthen cooperation on advancing ethical recruitment practices, raising awareness of fair labor standards, and enhancing the protection of migrant workers' rights. Additionally, Adaleh organizes awareness-raising sessions, capacity-building workshops, and mental wellness sessions, while also issuing policy papers, briefs, practical guides, and studies. Among the projects conducted by Adaleh in the most recent years are:
- Bridging the Gap: Advancing Equity for Women in Domestic Work in collaboration with Porticus Foundation (2026): This project aimed at creating a society where female domestic workers (FDWs) are empowered, safeguarded against exploitation, and meaningfully integrated into the social fabric. Through strategic interventions, including tailored legal support, capacity-building programs, awareness campaigns, and community engagement initiatives, the project seeks to establish sustainable mechanisms that uphold FDWs' rights and foster their social and cultural inclusion.
- Stronger Together: Migrant Women’s Protection Project – Reflecting Collective Action and Support (2025) (In Cooperation with Heinrich Böll Stiftung)
This project focuses on migrant domestic female workers and agricultural workers. Through this initiative, Adaleh delivered legal awareness-raising sessions, mental health support, and a targeted social media campaign to over 120 agricultural workers and 100 migrant domestic workers, educating them about their labor rights, social protection, and providing mental wellness support. To maintain a multi-faceted, multi-stakeholder approach, Adaleh collaborated with recruitment agencies and Ministry of Labour inspectors, training them on labor law, human trafficking prevention, and identifying exploitative practices. The project produced a digital guidebook for agricultural workers, covering labor laws, workers' rights, and available support services.
- Catalyst for Change: Female Domestic Workers Building Life with Dignity (2023-2025)
In collaboration with Porticus Foundation, this initiative aims to create lasting positive change for migrant domestic workers in Jordan. The project aims to empower workers with the knowledge, skills, and resources to assert their legal rights and improve mental well-being. It also provides guidance on local customs and practices in Jordan, helping migrant workers navigate their new work and living environment.
Attached to this application, you will find an organizational profile that offers a broader overview of Adaleh’s activities in terms of human rights, gender and youth. However, please note that this profile is not exhaustive and does not include all of the projects we have undertaken.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

By joining the Anna Lindh Foundation Network, Adaleh seeks to leverage its extensive experience in human rights protection and advocacy to contribute to the shared mission of fostering intercultural dialogue and democratic values. Through collaboration with the Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies (the Head of the National Network) and other member organizations, Adaleh aims to actively engage in and enrich nationally implemented activities.
Adaleh can also contribute to expanding the scope of the network’s work with innovative ideas and a multi-stakeholder approach, engaging with diverse actors from various cultural and social backgrounds. This will help implement and strengthen intercultural activities within the national network. One of Adaleh’s distinctive strengths lies in its deep, direct engagement with migrant workers and other marginalized groups, particularly in the context of human rights violations and human trafficking. This direct relationship with individuals who often have limited access to legal aid, resources, and intercultural exchange provides Adaleh with a unique perspective on the challenges faced by diverse communities in Jordan and the Arab world. Adaleh’s specialized focus on migrant workers—many of whom are often excluded from broader dialogues—ensures that these voices are included in conversations on human rights and intercultural understanding. Furthermore, Adaleh’s expertise in integrating technology and digital tools into its human rights initiatives can help amplify the network’s impact, fostering deeper exchanges and promoting understanding and tolerance on a broader scale. Through its collaboration with the National Network, Adaleh aims to create meaningful and inclusive intercultural exchanges, contributing to a more cohesive and tolerant society in Jordan and the Arab world.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Joining the Anna Lindh Foundation Network presents a valuable opportunity for Adaleh to access exclusive resources, knowledge, and opportunities critical to advancing its mission. Through the network, Adaleh aims to expand its collaborations, foster meaningful partnerships, and build strong relationships with NGOs and civil society organizations across the Euro-Mediterranean region. This will enable Adaleh to engage in cross-cultural exchanges and collaborate with organizations that share its values, vision, and commitment to human rights.
By joining the network, Adaleh seeks to contribute actively to the collective effort of building societies that respect human rights, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that all individuals—particularly marginalized groups—are treated with dignity and equality. The network’s platform will also empower Adaleh to strengthen its advocacy and increase its impact, working alongside like-minded organizations to create safer, fairer, and more inclusive communities across the region.
