General Information

The group was established in 1996 by a small, dedicated group of parents of young ADHD teens who sought proper assistance and information to better support their children. They initially gathered information from the United States and the United Kingdom. Recognizing the need to share their findings and support others, they founded a formal NGO aimed at disseminating their knowledge to fellow parents and raising awareness among professionals. Today, ADHD Malta has flourished, boasting a family group with 3,700 members and an adult group with 2,700 members. We are proud to be one of the founding members of ADHD Europe and the Malta Health Network (MHN). Through MHN, we are connected with esteemed organizations such as the European Public Health Alliance (EPHA), the European Patients Forum (EPF), and the International Alliance of Patients Organisations (IAPO). Our primary funding is provided by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS).

Mission and Objectives

To support, empower, educate, and encourage anyone dealing with ADHD and related disabilities and to advocate for the rights of people with ADHD.

Main Projects / Activities

ADHD Malta provides a comprehensive range of services to support individuals with ADHD and their families. We offer specialized parenting courses tailored to different age groups and specific issues, ensuring parents have the tools they need to effectively support their children. For adults, we provide ADHD Coaching courses and access to trained ADHD Adult Coaches for one-on-one interventions. Our organization also hosts a summer camp designed to provide a supportive and enriching environment for young people with ADHD. Additionally, we extend our support to young individuals struggling with addiction and homelessness, including those who are foreigners and face additional barriers in accessing services. Through these diverse programs, ADHD Malta remains committed to fostering a community of understanding and support for all affected by ADHD.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

As an active member of the Anna Lindh Foundation Network, ADHD Malta would contribute through community engagement, advocacy, and collaborative projects. We would raise awareness about intercultural and cooperation via events and workshops, represent the network in local forums, and initiate joint projects to address shared challenges. Our efforts would include engaging youth through educational programs, conducting research, and fostering partnerships. Through these activities, ADHD Malta promotes mutual respect and understanding, enhancing the foundation’s mission in our country.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Joining the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) Network will enable ADHD Malta to enhance intercultural dialogue, expand our reach, and strengthen advocacy efforts. Through collaboration with a broad network of organizations, we can share resources and innovative solutions, benefiting from the ALF Network’s expertise. This partnership will help us better support vulnerable groups, promote youth engagement, and advance our mission of fostering an inclusive and supportive community for individuals with ADHD. Currently, we encounter young and adult individuals with ADHD who are struggling with addiction, homelessness, and unemployment. Access to an international network will provide invaluable resources and support to address these challenges effectively.
