The Afghanistan Studies and Cooperation Center (ASCC) is a registered non-profit organization based in Bonn, Germany, established in 2023. The organization operates at the intersection of education, integration, research, and intercultural dialogue, with a strong focus on supporting Afghan refugees and migrant communities across Europe.
ASCC’s core mission is to strengthen the capacities of diaspora and refugee communities by facilitating access to education, reliable information, and opportunities for socio-economic participation. The organization works to promote social cohesion, mutual understanding, and inclusive development by building bridges between communities, civil society, public institutions, and international partners.
Through its activities, ASCC delivers language and digital skills training, labour market integration support, and community-based initiatives that empower individuals to actively participate in society. In addition, ASCC conducts research and needs assessments to better understand the challenges faced by refugees, particularly in accessing information, services, and rights.
A key area of ASCC’s work is the design and implementation of information and awareness campaigns, such as the Pathways to Protection (P2P) initiative in partnership with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). Through this work, ASCC leverages its strong community networks and multilingual outreach to address information gaps, counter misinformation, and promote safe and informed decision-making among people on the move.
ASCC actively engages in partnerships with local authorities, academic institutions, and international organizations, contributing to policy dialogue and collaborative initiatives in the fields of migration, integration, and intercultural exchange. By fostering dialogue and cooperation across cultures and sectors, ASCC contributes to the values and objectives of the Anna Lindh Foundation, particularly in promoting intercultural dialogue, youth engagement, and inclusive societies across the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The Afghanistan Studies and Cooperation Center (ASCC) is committed to promoting inclusive, informed, and resilient communities by strengthening the capacities of refugees, migrants, and diaspora groups. Through education, access to reliable information, and intercultural engagement, ASCC works to foster social cohesion, empower individuals, and facilitate meaningful participation in society. The organization also aims to build bridges between communities, institutions, and international partners to support sustainable development and mutual understanding across cultures.

Main Projects / Activities
Main Projects and Activities – Afghanistan Studies and Cooperation Center (ASCC)
ASCC implements a range of community-based, educational, and research-driven initiatives aimed at empowering refugee and diaspora communities, particularly Afghans in Europe, while promoting intercultural dialogue and social cohesion.
1. Pathways to Protection (P2P) – Information Campaign (2025–2027)
In partnership with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), ASCC contributes to the design and implementation of multi-country information campaigns targeting Afghan refugees and people on the move across Europe. The initiative focuses on addressing critical information gaps, countering misinformation, and providing accessible, rights-based information through multilingual and community-based outreach.
2. Capacity Building and Skills Development Programs
ASCC delivers training programs in language learning, digital literacy, and job-readiness skills to support the socio-economic integration of refugees and migrants. These initiatives aim to enhance employability, self-reliance, and active participation in host societies.
3. Job Search Support and Labour Market Integration (2024–2025)
With support from local authorities, ASCC has established initiatives such as a “Job Search Center for Refugees,” providing guidance on job applications, CV writing, and access to employment opportunities, particularly in Germany.
4. Research and Needs Assessments
ASCC conducts multi-country research and needs assessments to better understand the challenges faced by refugee communities, especially regarding access to information, services, and protection. The findings inform program design, advocacy, and policy dialogue.
5. Community Engagement and Intercultural Dialogue
The organization regularly hosts cultural events, community gatherings, and dialogue platforms that bring together diverse communities, fostering mutual understanding, inclusion, and social cohesion.
6. Diaspora Networking and Partnerships
ASCC manages and contributes to diaspora networks, including initiatives such as the Afghan Diaspora Network in Germany, facilitating collaboration among community members, civil society organizations, and international partners.
7. Advocacy and Collaboration with Institutions
ASCC actively engages with municipalities, academic institutions, and international organizations to promote inclusive policies, share community insights, and contribute to discussions on migration, integration, and intercultural cooperation.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
The Afghanistan Studies and Cooperation Center (ASCC) can contribute to the Anna Lindh Foundation Network in Germany by leveraging its strong grassroots connections with refugee and diaspora communities, particularly Afghans, and by acting as a bridge between local communities, civil society organizations, and international partners.
ASCC brings practical experience in designing and implementing community-based initiatives that promote intercultural dialogue, social cohesion, and inclusive participation. Through its ongoing programs in education, capacity building, and information dissemination—such as the Pathways to Protection (P2P) initiative—ASCC can actively contribute to the Network’s objectives by sharing field-based insights, good practices, and innovative approaches to community engagement.
Furthermore, ASCC can support the Network by organizing and co-hosting local events, workshops, and dialogue platforms that bring together diverse communities, particularly youth, migrants, and underrepresented groups. The organization’s multilingual outreach and trusted position within diaspora networks enable it to facilitate meaningful participation and amplify voices that are often underrepresented.
ASCC is also well-positioned to contribute to knowledge exchange and collaborative projects within the Network, offering perspectives on migration, integration, and diaspora engagement in Europe. By engaging actively in ALF initiatives, ASCC aims to strengthen cross-cultural cooperation and contribute to building more inclusive and resilient societies in Germany and beyond.

The Afghanistan Studies and Cooperation Center (ASCC) seeks to join the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) Network to strengthen its engagement in intercultural dialogue, expand its partnerships, and contribute to inclusive and cohesive societies across Europe and the Euro-Mediterranean region.
ASCC’s work focuses on empowering refugee and diaspora communities through education, capacity building, and access to reliable information.
