Who we are
ALWATAN Center is a Palestinian Organization, located in the heart of al-Khalil (Hebron) on Ein Sara Street. Our work is centered on strengthening communities to empower them to find nonlinear solutions to problems; solutions which are rooted in social justice, compassion, and love.
ALWATAN which means “The Homeland” in Arabic, is one of the non-profit organizations in Palestine.
The center was founded in Hebron in August 1988 to serve all individuals and groups interested in nonviolent action for resolving conflicts and building a civic society. In addition, it is dedicated to providing and disseminating information to the public about particular cases of need in order to foster greater public unity awareness, development and support.
Since ALWATAN center strongly adheres to the principle of the popular resistant and nonviolence and its power as a method to achieve justice and peace for all, the center therefore aspires to provide the suitable resources to build and develop a peaceful democratic Palestinian state, based on justice and the rule of law. This effort has been implemented to preempt the various attempts that have been practiced to deny the existence of a national identity of the Palestinian people

ALWATAN FOR PEACE
In collaboration with Nonviolence International in Washington, DC and other organizations, ALWATAN works for Peace and aims at disseminating the philosophy of non-violence in the region. The center also helps to develop ways of civil resisting the occupation without resorting to violence. Bearing in mind the recent pattern of escalating violence, there should be a ceaseless effort on the part of all to work for a genuine peace
ALWATAN FOR JUSTICE
Believing in justice as a basis for peace, the center has drawn attention to the facts and specifics of infringements against justice. Many activities related to nonviolence have been organized to tackle the issues of human rights violations. In this context, the center has built unique relations with local and international movements or organizations that advocate the ideas of peace and nonviolence. This work began long before the Oslo accords, believing in the fact that communication is the basis for all human understanding. It is also the best way to remove the barriers of fear and mistrust among the parties in order to insure a future built on justice
