General Information

Anadolu Kültür is a non-for-profit organization based in Istanbul which has been established in 2002 with the participation of individuals and institutions from art and culture, civil society, academy and social enterpreneurs. The staff of Anadolu Kültür is composed of a number of professionals and experts from different backgrounds and art disciplines. Anadolu Kültür engages artists, local NGOs, cultural organizations, young people and underserved groups’ participation at the regional, national and international levels. To foster social justice, equal participation and peaceful co-existance Anadolu Kültür carries out its projects in the following main areas: “Cultural Dialogue”, “Rights and Cultural Diversity”, “Artistic Expression and Learning”

Mission and Objectives

Anadolu Kultur’s mission is to build bridges among different ethnic, religious and regional groups through: - facilitating sharing of arts and culture; - supporting local initiatives; - creating civil space; - raising awareness of common cultural heritage of different cultures; - facilitating inter-regional cooperation. The objective of Anadolu Kültür is: - to help creating a more transparent, open-minded, constructively critical individuals, communities and societies; - to develop a culture of dialogue across borders and boundaries;  - to facilitate mutual understanding and to enhance the strengths of a right-based civil society and artistic fields. Anadolu Kültür aims to be a platform and facilitator for cross-cultural collaborations and exchange between artists, cultural and educational organisations, the socio-cultural field and local authorities in Turkey, Europe and the whole MENA and Mediterranean region.

Main Projects / Activities

Anadolu Kültür undertakes the following activities: - initiating and realising artistic, cultural and socio-cultural projects, programmes and events; - supporting the production and co-production of artistic works; - organising workshops, training sessions and debates; - developing participatory cultural policy initiatives, in collaboration with the local authorities; - creating a strong network of partners from different fields and backgrounds. There are many projects focusing on multi-directional recovery of the underprivileged communities in post-disaster, wars and conflict regions through arts.
