General Information

Anadolu Kültür is a non-for-profit company based in Istanbul which has been established in 2002 with the participation of individuals and institutions from various disciplines of art. The staff of Anadolu Kültür is composed of a number of professionals and experts. The main areas of work are cinema, literature, photography, contemporary art, performing arts, music, cultural heritage, and women, children, justice and other social issues. Main partners and supporters include but not limited to European Commission, European Cultural Foundation, Open Society Institute, British Council, Christensen Fund, Eurimages Fund, The Netherlands MATRA Programme, Goethe Institut, Heinrich Böll Stiftung, İstanbul Bilgi University, Consulate General of Sweden, Consulate General of Norway, Swiss Academy for Development, Prince Claus Fund, Istanbul French Cultural Centre.

Mission and Objectives

Anadolu Kultur’s mission is to build bridges among different ethnic, religious and regional groups through: - facilitating sharing of arts and culture; - supporting local initiatives; - creating civil space; - raising awareness of common cultural heritage of different cultures; - facilitating inter-regional cooperation The objective of Anadolu Kültür is: - to help creating a more transparent, open-minded, constructively critical society; - to develop a culture of dialogue across borders and boundaries; - to facilitate mutual understanding and to enhance the chances and strengths of a tolerant civil society. Anadolu Kültür aims to be a platform and facilitator for cross-cultural collaborations and exchange between artists, cultural and educational organisations, the socio-cultural field and local authorities in Turkey, Europe and the whole region.

Main Projects / Activities

Anadolu Kültür undertakes the following activities: - initiating and realising artistic, cultural and socio-cultural projects, programmes and events; - supporting the production and co-production of artistic works; - organising workshops, training sessions and debates; - developing participatory cultural policy initiatives, in collaboration with the local authorities; - creating a strong network of partners from different fields and backgrounds. The programme areas of Anadolu Kültür include cultural exchange, cultural heritage studies and local cultural policies with a special attention to regional cooperation.
