OthersGeneral Information
The Annette Kuhn Foundation has been created in 2008 as a legal entity. The aim of the foundation is promoting women's historical research and education. It acts on the conviction that knowledge of the history of women is fundamental to progressive politics of fairness and reconciliation among all peoples and cultures.
Mission and Objectives
All objectives are continuous tasks and challenges. In exchange it is necessary
- to promote scholarship, research and education in the field of women's history,
- to make visible the historical achievements of women in family, society and the state across different cultures,
- to realize women's equality within a democratic understanding of politics, law, private business, public administration, work and family,
- to create a gender democratic awareness within youth education and continuing adult education,
- to further highlight in scientifically appropriate and dignified ways the significance of women in different cultures,
- to reduce gender-specific tensions and inequalities, in particular within education,
- to contribute to communication and reconciliation with other cultures, by focusing on the specific influences and contributions of women throughout history.
The underlying idea to build a "House of Women's History" like a museum, where also events and education should take place, was put into the centre of foundation's scientific, educational, and practical work.
Main Projects / Activities
In the context of pragmatic realization of the foundation's goals the construction of a real, physical House of Women's History was accompanied by research-based development of a concept of seven historical rooms which brings to life in the present the visions and achievements of women throughout history. Main educational projects designed and co-ordinated by the foundation took place in learning partnerships with various EU partners Together we further developed project proposals to implement research or education contributions on national or regional levels.
The currently finished comprehensive educational project "Grandmothers - Mothers - Daughters. Encounter in Dialogue" in three German cities (Berlin, Bonn, Chemnitz) was devoted to the work on biographies of the participating women and offered at the same time new insights regarding generational perspectives. The project lasted 1 year. This project will be implemented again in other cities.

Our longtime cooperation experience of educational experts and researchers can be useful.
