AQUItheater Berlin gUG is a non-profit performing arts and research laboratory based in Berlin, working with artists, theatre pedagogues and cultural managers with international professional trajectories. Founded in 2016, the organization develops artistic, educational and community-based projects at the intersection of physical theatre, dance and migrant narratives, working in Spanish, German and English.
Mission and Objectives
The mission of AQUItheater Berlin is to create artistic, pedagogical and political spaces that foster intercultural dialogue, social cohesion and critical reflection, with a strong focus on women / FLINTA* and people with migration experience.
Our objectives include:
Amplifying marginalized and migrant voices through artistic creation
Exploring the body as an archive of memory, migration and resistance
Promoting equality of opportunities for different genders through inclusive artistic and educational practices
Developing feminist, decolonial and care-based methodologies in the performing arts
Strengthening local and transnational artistic and community networks
Main Projects / Activities
Professional stage productions rooted in migrant and feminist perspectives, presented in theatres, festivals and non-conventional spaces
Community-based artistic laboratories with women / FLINTA*, often intergenerational and multilingual
Educational workshops and trainings using theatre as a tool for empowerment, political participation and collective reflection
Open platforms and public encounters (open stages, discussions, post-show talks) to encourage exchange between artists and local communities
International collaborations and mobility, particularly within Euro-Mediterranean and Global South contexts
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
From Germany, AQUItheater Berlin can contribute to the ALF Network by:
Connecting local migrant communities and artists with Euro-Mediterranean initiatives
Sharing artistic and pedagogical methodologies focused on embodiment, memory and migration
Supporting visibility and exchange for artists and initiatives from the Global South and the Mediterranean region
Acting as a bridge between grassroots community work and institutional cultural spaces
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
We want to join the ALF Network to continue strengthening our engagement in Euro-Mediterranean dialogue and collaboration. In June 2025, AQUItheater Berlin participated in the ALF Forum, which proved to be a highly meaningful platform for our organizational development. Through this experience, we established significant connections with cultural actors and organizations from different countries, opening new pathways for collaboration, mobility and project development.
Joining the ALF Network allows us to build on these experiences, deepen existing relationships and actively contribute to a shared space for cultural exchange, solidarity and social transformation.
