arcenciel is a non profit organization with a social enterprise business model, employing around 400 people with 30% staff having disabilities and social difficulties. Its tearly turnover is close to 8M $, half of it self generated through the sale of products (wheelchairs, food production...) and services (therapy provision, waste manageemnt...) and the other half through funded projects. Major partners are UN agencies, Development agencies, foundations and INGOs.
Mission and Objectives
arcenciel is a Lebanese NGO created in 1985. Its mission is to “engage in the sustainable development of the society by supporting fragile groups and integrating marginalized people”. arcenciel is non-denominational, non-political and works with and for anyone in difficulty. arcenciel’s activities are Social: care of people in need, Environmental: preservation of natural resources and Economic: financial autonomy. arcenciel’s strategy is based on the assessment of Community of needs; specialized Service-Provision and ensuring a sustainable service through Public Programs. arcenciel operates through five sectors: Agriculture, Health and Social, Material Valorization, Youth Support, and Disability Inclusion sectors through 12 centers.
Main Projects / Activities
arcenciel provides social services such as mobility devices for persons with disabilities, medications, hospitalization, social assistance, training and awareness sessions for different vulnerable populations, and educational and employment assistance of different types. It also provides services with an environmental perspective such as managing recyclable and healthcare waste, improving agricultural practices, and supporting cultural and eco-touristic activities in Lebanon.
