ARCOIRIS ENTIENDE is an LGTBI association from Alicante whose main purpose is the defense and promotion of the rights of LGTBI people, comprehensively, in all spheres of our society, with special emphasis on the social sphere and on the most disadvantaged groups, such as LGTBI children and youth, the elderly, people with disabilities, refugees and immigrants, and other social minorities.
Mission and Objectives
We also pay special attention to the area of sexual health, prevention, positive sexuality, and the promotion of sports, as an improvement in the quality of life for LGBTQI people.
The fight against hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity, in the workplace, at school, and in the field of human rights.
Culture and leisure are also important, to promote a positive vision and give visibility to the community in all spheres of culture, such as cinema, music, the media, and fashion, as well as in popular and patron saint festivals or nightlife.
Main Projects / Activities
Our main projects are the ALICANTE ENTIENDE LGTBI Collective, as a tool for social participation in Alicante, to develop activism actions through events, demonstrations, acts of social mobilization, activities to commemorate Pride and other international days of vindication and visibility, as well as the creation of other collectives, at a local level, in towns in our province.
And on the other hand, the ARCOIRIS POINTS, as a specialized care service for LGBTQI people and the general population, on issues of affective-sexual orientation, legal and social information, health and sexuality, leisure and free time, educational resources information, guidance and psycho-social support;
and the 1 ARCOIRIS SPACES, as spaces for welcoming and energizing LGBTQI people in local areas, with special attention to the most disadvantaged groups where mutual support activities, workshops, leisure and free time, 2 solidarity homes, etc. are organized.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Our participation in society is transversal, being present in the social, cultural, and participatory movements that exist, such as in the University, citizen participation councils, the youth council, historical memory, and in other activities that allow us to develop our defined purposes and areas of action, with the aim of defending the rights of LGBTQI people comprehensively.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
The ALF Network it’s a great social instrument for make positive changes in our socity, with the help between all the participants.
It is important to give visibility to the LGBTQI community within work networks, in a transversal way, which also allows us to contribute our points of view and our work for social transformation.
