Argonaftes Youth Club consists of young people from all over Cyprus. Founded in 2003 as a sports club, it is now active in youth work. Our main aim is youth involvement in activities and discussions on important issues such as education, cultural awareness, environment, job opportunities and volunteerism. The group consists of 400+ members aged 18-38. We are also working on bi-communal projects bringing together Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot youth through cultural events, round-table discussions and annual festivals.
Mission and Objectives
Our mission is to empower young people through intercultural dialogue, non-formal education and active participation. We aim to foster understanding between divided communities, promote cultural diversity and create opportunities for youth engagement at local, national and international levels.
Main Projects / Activities
Over 60 international projects across 20 countries involving 200+ young people. Key projects include "Arts for Inclusion" (2018), "Youth for Cultural Heritage" (2019), "United Against Hate Speech" (2022). Partner in Erasmus+ youth exchanges and training courses. Bi-communal projects bridging Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities through cultural activities.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Argonaftes can contribute through its extensive experience in bi-communal youth dialogue, intercultural arts activities and its broad network of 400+ young members across Cyprus. We can organise local events, facilitate cross-community dialogue and connect the ALF Cyprus Network with youth organisations island-wide.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
We want to join the ALF Network to strengthen our intercultural dialogue work within the Euro-Mediterranean context, access collaborative opportunities with civil society organisations across the region, and contribute our experience in using culture and arts as tools for peace-building and social inclusion among youth.
