Ars Mundi APS is a non-profit cultural association based in Rome that promotes intercultural dialogue, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability through arts and culture. Founded by a multicultural team, the association develops projects that foster encounters between people from different cultural backgrounds, creating opportunities for participation, mutual understanding, and active citizenship. Its activities include festivals, concerts, film screenings, workshops, podcasts, and educational programmes, often developed in collaboration with public institutions, municipalities, universities, and international partners. Particular attention is given to the Mediterranean region, cultural diversity, and the inclusion of migrant communities, using artistic expression as a tool for dialogue and social cohesion. Ars Mundi believes that culture can build bridges across communities, strengthen shared values, and contribute to a more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable society where diversity is recognised as a common resource and an opportunity for collective growth.
Mission and Objectives
Ars Mundi APS aims to strengthen intercultural dialogue and social cohesion by using arts and culture as tools for participation, inclusion, and mutual understanding. The association promotes cultural diversity, active citizenship, and equal opportunities through projects that connect local communities with people from different cultural and social backgrounds. Its objectives include fostering peaceful coexistence, supporting the participation of young people and underrepresented communities, preserving and promoting cultural heritage, and encouraging sustainable cultural practices. Ars Mundi develops accessible initiatives that transform public spaces into places of encounter, learning, and exchange, while building partnerships with institutions, civil society organisations, artists, and international networks. By combining creativity, education, and community engagement, the association contributes to building more inclusive, resilient, and environmentally responsible societies where cultural diversity is recognised as a shared value and a source of innovation.
Main Projects / Activities
Ars Mundi APS develops interdisciplinary cultural projects that promote intercultural dialogue, community participation, and social inclusion through arts and culture. Its main activities include multicultural festivals, film screenings, artistic workshops, storytelling programmes, podcasts, and participatory cultural initiatives. Among its flagship projects are the Human & Cultural Library, an innovative format fostering dialogue through music, arts, food, and personal storytelling; Cartiera Soundscape, a multidisciplinary programme combining performing arts, environmental awareness, and community well-being; the Human Rights Film Fest, dedicated to human rights, diversity, and civic participation; and the Cultural Library international programme and podcast, engaging participants from over 15 countries in storytelling and audiovisual production. Working in partnership with public institutions, schools, universities, cultural organisations, and international networks, Ars Mundi transforms public spaces into places of encounter, creativity, and mutual understanding, strengthening social cohesion through accessible and community-centred cultural experiences.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Ars Mundi APS can contribute to the ALF Network in Italy by strengthening intercultural dialogue through arts, culture, and community participation. Drawing on its experience in designing international cultural projects, the association can facilitate collaborations between civil society organisations, public institutions, artists, and local communities, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean region. Ars Mundi is committed to sharing innovative methodologies in storytelling, participatory arts, audiovisual production, and community engagement, while promoting joint initiatives, knowledge exchange, and capacity building among Network members. Through its festivals, educational programmes, podcasts, and cultural events, the association can increase the visibility of the ALF Network, engage young people and diverse communities, and foster new partnerships at local, national, and international levels. Ars Mundi aims to actively contribute to a vibrant Network that promotes mutual understanding, cultural diversity, peace, and sustainable social development across the Mediterranean.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
Ars Mundi APS wishes to join the Anna Lindh Foundation Network to become part of a vibrant Euro-Mediterranean community committed to promoting intercultural dialogue, peace, and mutual understanding. We believe that today's social and global challenges require stronger cooperation between civil society organisations, cultural practitioners, and public institutions. By joining the Network, we aim to exchange knowledge, develop joint initiatives, and contribute our experience in community-based cultural projects, participatory arts, and international cooperation. We are particularly interested in building partnerships that celebrate the Mediterranean as a shared space of cultural diversity and dialogue, while creating new opportunities for young people, artists, and local communities. Membership in the ALF Network represents an opportunity not only to strengthen our impact at local and international levels but also to actively contribute to a collaborative platform that fosters inclusion, cultural exchange, and sustainable social development across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
