Mission and Objectives

Sawti’s mission is to promote social, political, and cultural transformation in response to structural discrimination—such as racism, patriarchy, and other forms of exclusion—through awareness-raising, critical education, research, and the creation of safe spaces that foster the empowerment of racialized women and their active participation as agents of change.

Sawti aspires to a society in which Black and racialized women can live with freedom, dignity, and real equality, fully participating in social, political, technological, and cultural life. Its vision promotes a social model that values diversity, combats structural inequalities, and places historically marginalized communities at the center of the creation of the policies and narratives that affect their lives.
Objectives

To make visible the effects of structural racism in the daily lives of Black and racialized women.

To research and raise awareness about the discriminatory impacts of new technologies and artificial intelligence on Black and racialized women.

To create spaces for education and critical reflection on decolonial feminism, climate justice, the digital divide, and intersectionality.

To foster the collective empowerment of Black and racialized women and their participation as agents of change in decision-making spaces.

To influence public policies and regulatory frameworks in order to promote the incorporation of intersectional and anti-racist approaches.

To develop direct intervention projects aimed at strengthening the social, economic, and political inclusion of Black and racialized women.
