Associação Jasmin do Atlântico (NIPC: 517949466) is a Portuguese non-profit cultural association founded on January 12, 2024
. Headquartered in Lisbon (Belém), the association was established by João Nuno Gonçalves Cheira and Saoussen Khalifa to bridge societies, build mutual respect, and enhance Euro-Mediterranean dialogue

Mission and Objectives
The primary mission of Associação Jasmin do Atlântico is to promote cultural exchange between Portugal and the Arab world, fostering mutual understanding, respect for traditions, and the appreciation of cultural diversity
To achieve these goals, the association is committed to:
Intercultural Dialogue: Facilitating and encouraging the exchange of artists, intellectuals, and professionals between Portuguese and Arab cultural contexts to provide enriching experiences and promote mutual understanding
Education & Awareness: Developing educational programs to raise awareness of the cultural, historical, and social richness of Arab and Lusitanian peoples, active in combating stereotypes and prejudices
Research & Knowledge: Stimulating studies and research that contribute to a deeper understanding of the intersections between Arab and Lusitanian cultures, sharing knowledge via publications and seminars
International Cooperation: Building partnerships and collaborations with educational and cultural organizations in Portugal and the Arab world to strengthen friendship ties and establish sustainable, inclusive cooperation

In alignment with our cultural mission, Associação Jasmin do Atlântico focuses on the following key activities:
Cultural Events & Exhibitions: Organizing and promoting high-impact events celebrating Arab and Lusitanian cultures, including art exhibitions, cultural festivals, public lectures, interactive workshops, performing arts, and educational showcases
Academic & Research Initiatives: Hosting seminars, publishing studies, and promoting research on the shared history and cultural intersection of Portuguese and Arab societies
Educational Workshops: Designing and delivering community-based educational and awareness programs to foster inclusivity and cross-cultural respect
Networking & Joint Projects: Developing collaborative projects with national and international cultural entities to strengthen Euro-Mediterranean cooperation

Fostering Arab-Lusitanian Intercultural Dialogue: We bring specialised focus and dedication to bridging Portuguese and Arab cultures
. We can organize and co-host high-impact joint initiatives—such as art exhibitions, cultural festivals, public lectures, and performing arts—to promote mutual understanding within the national network
Combating Stereotypes through Educational Outreach: We can support the network’s social and educational goals by designing and delivering collaborative workshops and raising awareness of the cultural, historical, and social wealth shared by Arab and Lusitanian peoples, fostering a more inclusive and respectful society
Facilitating Cross-Border Mobility: We are committed to facilitating the exchange of artists, intellectuals, and professionals between Portugal and the Arab world

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
Associação Jasmin do Atlântico wishes to join the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) Network to align our mission with a prominent Euro-Mediterranean platform dedicated to fostering intercultural dialogue, mutual respect, and social cohesion.
Our association was established on the fundamental belief that cultural exchange is the most effective bridge between societies, with our primary focus being the promotion of dialogue and exchange between Portugal and the Arab world.
