General Information

AIIR was established in 2002. It has no staff employed. Partners in different projects are mostly non-governmental organizations with similar goals, but also different public institutions like cultural centers or schools. AIIR is being supported by Zagreb City Council for Education, Culture and Sport and Ministry of Culture, EACEA, and also has been supported by Austrian Cultural Forum, Goethe Institute Kroatien, Spanish Embassy in Croatia, French Centre du livre, Soros-Croatia etc. Budgetary resources available annually has varied from 10000 Euros to 30000 Euros. Modalities of action vary from concrete projects, based on scholar and artistic research with broader visibility to educational and intercultural projects.

Mission and Objectives

AIIR sees its mission in creating and maintaining intercultural and interdisciplinary platformas for research on and redefinition of diverse societal problems: from spatial organization, conviviality, intercultural, gender and piece issues to sustainable life on the planet, with special interest in Mediterranean region. AIIR is striving for new methodologies, grounded equally in sciences as in art in order to catalyze more transdisciplinary and interstitial approaches towards contemporaneity.

Main Projects / Activities

Recent activities and projects: Theatre of memories, www.theatreofmemories.org (intercultural project between Croatia and Czech Republic, starting with mini conferences and discussions platforms, leading to series of theatre installations) Cybercinematography, www.cybercine.org (media archive archeology, projecting archival material in public space - creation of temporal and spatial tool for redefinition of urban public space) More projects at wwww.uiii.org
