Since 2013, Stanza 101 Project has been working on cultural regeneration in the suburbs of Rome, especially in the East Side, with a primary focus on issues related to:
-discrimination and gender-based violence
-transfeminism and intersectionality
-construction of events on queer and lgbtqia+ issues in the suburbs
-inclusive communication and digital violence
Over the past 13 years we have built a network between activities in the area (and beyond), helping to increase the cultural offer. All the people involved are professionals working in different fields (humanities, digital communication, videomaking, graphic design, environmental studies and sustainability, pedagogy) who make their specific skills available to the project.
Today, our goal is to become a cultural centre offering spaces and services rooted in the disadvantaged neighbourhoods, but aimed at the entire citizenry:
-Accessible Training
-Organisation of events in collaboration with other organisations in the suburbs that contribute to expanding the cultural offerings in the local area
-Coworking space and study room available to self-employed workers and students at popular prices
Another key activity is training, during which members with specific skills share their knowledge in specialized training sessions. Our focus extends to sexual rights, inclusivity, mental well-being, and innovative work models in line with agile methodologies. Our mission is to utilize our diverse skills to support and empower young people and women in their creative endeavors while dismantling gender stereotypes through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Mission and Objectives
Stanza 101 Project is an association dedicated to fostering female entrepreneurship through innovative and inclusive approaches. We actively participate in, promote, and organize a wide range of cultural, musical, theatrical, cinematographic, recreational, and artistic events, alongside debates, internships, conferences, and training courses. Our focus spans the fields of communication, art, and education, with a commitment to empowering our members and enhancing their professional, social, and artistic qualifications.
We also specialize in organizing events and workshops on gender education, sustainable development education, and inclusive design. By employing cutting-edge methodologies such as gamification and educational game design, we aim to create engaging and impactful learning experiences that inspire entrepreneurship from a more equitable and just perspective.
Our publishing activities encompass both print and digital formats, including the production and free distribution of periodicals, newsletters, newspapers, audiovisual materials, and books. Through these efforts, we promote culture, communication, and art on a national and international scale, driving the dissemination and appreciation of these disciplines.
Stanza 101 Project’s mission is to create a vibrant, supportive environment where women can grow, connect, and innovate, ultimately contributing to a fairer and more inclusive society.
Main Projects / Activities
The founders and people currently involved in the project are professionals working in fields as diverse as human sciences, digital communication, videomaking and graphic design, environmental studies and sustainability, pedagogy, arts and crafts, who since 2012 address issues such as violence and gender discrimination.
In may 2014 we implemented ALTER/AZIONI, a Youth In Action project on gender-based violence, aimed at raising awareness and providing guidance through the creation of a handbook on how to recognize violence and take action.
November 2015 saw the birth of Centocelle Urban Mag, a project focused on cultural production and dissemination in the eastern suburban district of Rome, Centocelle. Initially, the project idea saw the birth of a webzine and webtv with the aim of networking the virtuous realities of the area and mapping the territory by highlighting its history, small shops and cultural proposals. The project evolved with the construction of a cultural pole that aims to offer spaces, services and cultural proposals rooted in the neighbourhood and aimed at the entire citizenry.
Since 2016 we have dedicated ourselves to the topic of unequal treatment and wages in sport with various projects such as Someone Likes Football, a web series and a documentary, and Sisters from the Other Space.
Specifically, the Collettiva project was created to develop a network of female freelancers engaged in the production of information content related to the concept of female entrepreneurship and beyond. Through the organisation of events we promote the work of the women in the group and debates: during the last event held on 11 and 12 November 2023 entitled 'YOUNG WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS' we held an arts and crafts market with open workshops and laboratories. A key activity is training. Women with specific skills that are useful to others make their knowledge available during purpose-built training days.
On 29 February 2024, the event entitled Sportive will address the topic of gender discrimination in sport, especially from the perspective of referees and sports managers. We will also talk about the history of emancipation through costume, recounting the evolution of sports uniforms.
Finally on 16 may 2024 we organized a workshop on gender education and discrimination as part of Calciosociale, a project aimed at including individuals at risk of social marginalization.
On 3 June 2024 we conducted a workshop on Inclusive Communication during a training course for entrepreneur women within a Pangea ONLUS project.
In August 2024, we created Agartha, a cultural regeneration project in the depopulated village of Grotte di Castro on Lake Bolsena. The goal is to redevelop an ancient building to create a multifunctional cultural centre to revive a wonderful place by creating opportunities for young people and inhabitants.
From September 2024:
Winner of the Erasmus+ project entitled ECHOES with international partners located in Spain, Kosovo and Greece and aimed at creating training and tools on digital storytelling to support the LGBTQIA+ community.
Winner of the public tender Roma creativa 365 with the Centocelle Buskers project.

This is NOT a Watermelon - the Calendar: design and production of a collective work created in collaboration with 13 illustrators who donated their work to support the Women with Gaza campaign. The result of this collaborative effort was a calendar distributed throughout Italy.
This is NOT a Watermelon: an evening in support of Palestine with a photographic exhibition "Boxing Against the Siege" curated by Daniele Napolitano, a discussion with journalist Valerio Nicolosi, Meri Calvelli of the ACS cooperative, and Jamal Suboh, "the barber of Gaza."
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Stanza 101 Project works at the intersection of education, activism, and cultural production, and embraces intersectional and decolonial values.
Our team – composed mainly of women and queer professionals – combines academic research with field practice, designing interventions that foster inclusion, critical thinking, and civic participation.
As mainly white, European people, we strongly believe in the maieutic value of self-questioning as a starting point to question our own white privilege, to recognize the colonial legacy in present socio-cultural dynamics and to educate future generations to a more conscious and inclusive understanding of history – one that acknowledges not only those who “won” through power and violence, but also those who were (and still are) silenced, oppressed, and erased by those same dynamics.
Through non-formal education approaches – such as game-based learning, digital storytelling, and participatory workshops – we design transformative experiences that help communities question inherited narratives, deconstruct stereotypes, and imagine fairer futures. We have experience in leading workshops that challenge gender bias and stereotypes, promoting greater visibility for marginalized groups in media and digital communication, and advocating for the recognition and representation of identities historically excluded from dominant narratives.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
This network fully aligns with our mission to foster dialogue, empower citizens, and co-create more democratic and plural imaginaries.
We would like to broaden our partners' network, know peers from both shores of Mediterranean and learn and grow thanks to our differences and commonalities, building upon shared values and the mission of creating a fairer Euro-med region.
