Valida is an association based in Rome with an open mind towards Europe. For nine years, it has been participating in European projects that promote the pursuit of social well-being and encourage dialogue between cultures that may seem distant, but which face common challenges.
Together with a network of partners from various European countries, Valida collaborates with local and international institutions to support active citizenship and social dialogue, with the aim of improving the quality of life for communities and their members, including through the growth of the local economy.
Mission and Objectives
ValIda's mission is to promote:
- Civic Activism, by involving every citizen in actions for a better society
- Culture and Identity, which represent and encompass the essential elements of life that make us who we are: traditions, rituals, gastronomy, art, language, and ways of doing things
- Civic Activism, one of the main themes ValIda has been working on for years, with the goal of encouraging communities and all stakeholders to actively participate in decisions concerning their own territories
- Social Dialogue, which can be summed up as joint solutions—constructive solutions that benefit all parties
- Social Well-being, as the new dimension we aim for to achieve new perspectives in life, and as the aspect of a healthy life that comes from social connections and community
Main Projects / Activities
ValIda's activities are mainly in the fields of education, youth and adult education with a focus on the mission points.
It cooperates with other organisations that are part of its permanent European and Italian network to identify needs and gaps in society, develop strategies and concepts that would cater for those needs or find solutions. It works with its network so that together they build opportunities together for the benefit of their learners and communities.
It has worked in several groups and consortia that fostered cross border dialogue between youths on human centred development, social media responsibility, social cohesion and inclusion. It also leads a Community of Practice platform in which members work together to foster innovation and peer learning in a cross disciplinary dimension. In this Community it seeks to establish and promote the culture of research even with target groups who may consider research as beyond their realm or as something exclusive to academics.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
We can contribute to dialogue and help build or consolidate networks for ourselves and for other members in the ALF Network so that the activities of the Network and of its members can gain wider scope and broader reach. We would put our experience and networks to good use so that together we bring about social innovation and new considerations in policy making and grassroots engagement.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
Following exchanges with other European partners of ours we came to appreciate the benefit of giving a bigger Mediterranean dimension to our mission, reach and audiences. We see the ALF Network as an opportunity to extend borders for our European cooperation.
