The BSCC is subsidised by the Regional Government (Marshall Office of the Pomeranian Voivodship) 4 The Center’s activities focus on nearly all fields of arts. It organizes interdisciplinary projects such as scientific and literary seminars, conferences, debates, contemporary art exhibitions, theatre and dance performances, audiovisual presentations, festivals and concerts of classical, jazz, rock and folk music. The BSCC has also published a number of its own books. The BSCC organizes nearly 40 events a year, most of them include international co-operation. 5. A great number of our projects is supported by Nordic and Baltic ministries and embassies, the European Union, Polish state funding and commercial sponsors. We also co-operate with the Polish Ministry of Culture and the EFAH.

Mission and Objectives

Among the BSCC’s statutory objectives are national and international creation and promotion of Pomeranian culture as well as the presentation of the achievements of other countries, particularly from the Baltic Sea Region, in Europe and beyond. The BSCC activities are focused on presenting the artistic and intellectual wealth of TriCity and its region to both, national and foreign audience. In order to achieve that we are trying to encourage a wider than bilateral model of the cultural exchange. Thanks to that BSCC is also able to promote artistic events created in co-operation with its international partners. One of our main objectives is to show the potential of young artists, facilitate them the way to international projects and educate through this collaboration.

Main Projects / Activities

During numerous projects we have been working with artists from all around the world. The BSCC is an organiser of the Festival of World Cultures “Window onto the World”. The main goal of the festival is to create a meeting spot for people of all nations and cultures, a place where they could freely exchange experiences, share thoughts and ideas. We are convinced that an honest dialogue between multicultural artists and the publicity is necessary to build a society of solidarity and understanding. Among our biggest undertakings there is e.g. the SEAS, a cross-cultural project connecting artists and intellectuals from the Baltic and Adriatic Sea Regions. The BSCC had been involved in the SEAS platform since 2002 until the termination of the project in 2005. Overall budget included 2,4 mln EUR. Since 2004 it operates the ARS BALTICA Secretariat (www.ars-baltica.net)
