General Information

Bookbarshop is a (non profit) reading initiative founded by me Wissam Sharafaldin in 2020 when I was still in Lebanon, currently based with my family in Germany. Initially, the platform will be reactivated with a three-member team: me as CEO, responsible for strategic direction and oversight; a Chief Marketing Officer and Community Manager handling marketing, public relations, and event organization; and a Chief Technology Officer managing technical aspects. Bookbarshop aims to enhance the reading experience by hosting online reading events and activities, integrating technology with books, coffee, and chocolates to encourage participation. In the future, the platform aspires to establish a local book and coffee shop to facilitate daily reading meetings and foster intercultural dialogue, allowing readers to express their opinions on literature and cultural topics freely. Currently self-funded through personal savings, Bookbarshop operates as a community business focused on promoting reading and intercultural dialogue rather than profit. We welcome like-minded partners and funding to accelerate growth.

Mission and Objectives

The mission of Bookbarshop is to foster a vibrant reading culture by creating engaging experiences that integrate literature with community interaction. Our objectives include organizing online reading events and activities that leverage technology to enhance the reading experience. We aim to encourage participation by pairing books with coffee and chocolates and, ultimately, establish a physical book and coffee shop. This space will facilitate daily reading meetings and intercultural dialogue, allowing readers to share their perspectives on literature and cultural topics. Bookbarshop is committed to supporting a diverse community of readers in freely expressing their opinions and promoting cross-cultural understanding.

Main Projects / Activities

Bookbarshop's main activities include organizing online reading events and intercultural meetings designed to foster a global community of readers. We host regular art and cultural dialogue sessions, providing a platform for participants to share their perspectives on literature and cultural issues. To encourage engagement, we offer weekly giveaways of books, chocolate, and coffee, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for our community. These activities aim to enrich the reading experience, promote cultural exchange, and support a diverse audience in connecting through shared literary interests. Kindly, check our Facebook page to have insights about our previous reading activities and initiatives.

Our weekly giveaways of books, chocolate, and coffee not only engage participants but also promote a sense of community and shared experience. Based in Germany, Bookbarshop is ideally positioned to act as a bridge between diverse cultures, facilitating dialogue and understanding within the network and supporting cross-cultural initiatives. By integrating technology and innovative approaches, we aim to contribute to the network's goals of fostering intercultural dialogue and promoting a vibrant reading culture.
