General Information

We are 15 years old. We have grown a membership of almost 200 people and run over an annual budget of approx 50.000 EUR, mostly coming from donations of our members and some work we do with local schools, institutions and municipalities.
Our vision: by 2030, the Monti Prenestini stand as a place celebrated for its rich environmental heritage, diverse landscapes, and thriving biodiversity. Within this setting, hamlets have transformed into vibrant living communities, rich of archaeology, historical memory and a vibrant mix of creativity and art. A place for young people to grow up with a culture of peace, embracing values of exchange and hospitality. The Monti Prenestini of 2030 symbolize high living standards, conservation and the promotion culture as an engine of sustainable, virtuous circuits, leaving a positive impact on both the territory and the generation that calls it home

Mission and Objectives

OUR Mission: We work to give more space to young people by placing them at the forefront of collective decisions made by both citizens and institutions. We aim to bring nature and hamlets, which serve as both communities and spaces for exploration and coexistence, back to the center of everyone’s choices. Walking, getting together, revitalizing places through music and art, building awareness on big challenges of todays'society such as climate change are our key actions

Main Projects / Activities

Brain Community Monti Prenestini APS is an NGO (by italian las we are a social promotion association) founded in Palestrina over 15 years ago, with the mission of protecting, enhancing, and promoting the natural, social, and cultural heritage of the Monti Prenestini (our home landscape). Our mission focuses on three fundamental values:

-Territorial and community inclusion: strengthening social ties through shared experiences in natural and cultural contexts.
-Enhancement of nature and historical memory: preserving and recounting the territory of the Monti Prenestini for present and future generations.
-Educational and cultural empowerment: promoting personal and collective growth through training, art, outdoor activities, and European projects.
we run a music festival every year called POLYSONICA which blends polyphony with electronic experimental music, a nature awareness weekend called GREEN ATTITUDE, immersive events in remote location to help people build a sense of community through innovative formats event in smaller towns/forgotten areas. More recently we worked with local farms to help them be recognised by local community for the role the play in ecosystem management

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We would be happy to help ALF value spread. Mediterranean culture and key values make us closer than we often think (or are told). We would be happy to celebrate the day of the Mediterranean in our area along with other ALF partners and help create a culture of dialogue across the shores of the Mediterranean especially in younger generations (with music, fine arts dialogues etc)

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

we are trying to get more youth take lead in our organization. Despite good progress, we realise they might have less opportunities to get exposed to diversity within Euromed countries. We hope this is another step in the direction of cultivating (local) identity with spirit of sharing with others
