As a global network, we offer a platform for different actors to come together to exchange, develop, discuss, and strategize common actions globally, regionally and at national levels. Bridge 47 brings different value-based educations together and creates spaces for network building and exchange of practices. Wider we are, the better we can advocate our common messages.
Main activities:
- Agenda 2030 and SDGs will come closer to their deadline. The official process will start in 2027, but we want to be the global platform for giving a space for dialogue, debates and brainstorming with all interested parties. Through these discussions we also want to boost the better implementation of SDG 4.7., contribute to other international processes and collect views what should be seen in the future with SDG 4.7. and especially the content of that target. Practically we will convene discussions mostly online and face to face, if possible, document the discussions, collect common messages and share those in other events and meetings.
- Bridge 47 is an internationally recognized actor in the fields of education and sustainable development. We want to continue this work inside education sector, including the close collaboration with UNESCO, but also to develop our activities to provide solutions elsewhere.
In 2023, UNESCO updated the so-called 1974 recommendations together with member states. Bridge 47 was invited to participate as an observer member and actively influenced the negotiations through both member states and the secretariat. The recommendations were approved in November at the UNESCO General Conference with the title Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development. We continue to monitor the implementation of the recommendations and also monitor the Transforming Education Summit in its implementation working groups and as a member of UNESCO's Institute for Lifelong Learning think tank. We follow the UN80 reform process as a part of the international UN We Need network.
- SDG 4.7. has a big role to play in the implementation of all SDGs and active citizens have great potential to create solutions. Focusing to speed up the implementation of SDG 4.7., we are practising it in a joint Erasmus + project Building bridges lead by Finnish Folk high school association together with Norwegian Folk high school association. The role of Bridge 47 is to make a study on the implementation of SDG 4.7. in Finnish and Norwegian schools. That methodology will give as good reference for other countries and sectors.
- We aim to start some national SDG pilot projects to bring all key stakeholder together to boost the implementation of SDG 4.7. Webinars will be organised on regular basis and members are invited to propose topics.
