CC – Connecting Continents, Connecting Cultures is an independent France-based think-and-do tank founded in 2019 and restructured as a SARL in 2026. Combining rigorous research, intercultural dialogue and project implementation, CC works across Europe and the Mediterranean, with a particular focus on the MENA region, and is also active in the Sahel.
The organisation operates with a core team of three staff members and six associate fellows from interdisciplinary and diverse geographic backgrounds. Its annual budget ranges between €50,000 and €80,000.
CC develops concrete research projects and cooperation initiatives in the fields of media literacy, intercultural dialogue, youth empowerment, arts and culture, digital resilience and civil society cooperation. Key initiatives include the Syria Media Literacy Lab, Digital Sahel and Elan for Europe. CC is the home to the regional network Media Literacy for the Mediterranean (https://media4med.com/).
We cooperate with a wide range of independent researchers, journalists, artists, civil society actors and Euro-Mediterranean cooperation networks.
Mission and Objectives
CC – Connecting Continents, Connecting Cultures aims to foster cultural exchange, strengthen intercultural dialogue, and promote cooperation between civil societies across the Mediterranean, Europe and Africa.
Our objectives are to:
• promote dialogue and mutual understanding between cultures, religions and societies;
• empower youth, artists, journalists and civil society actors through training, networking and creative cooperation;
• support independent media, media literacy and digital resilience against disinformation and hate speech;
• foster inclusive cultural initiatives linking arts, heritage and social innovation;
• encourage democratic participation, gender inclusion and human rights;
• create bridges between research, culture, policy-making and grassroots initiatives.
We believe that sustainable peace and stability in the Mediterranean require stronger people-to-people connections and vibrant independent civil societies capable of creating shared narratives beyond polarisation and conflict.
Main Projects / Activities
• Syria Media Literacy Lab — training and networking initiative for Syrian journalists, media workers and civil society actors focusing on media literacy, digital resilience and intercultural dialogue;
• Digital Sahel — initiative addressing disinformation, youth empowerment and digital resilience in West Africa through workshops, research and creative communication approaches;
• Elan for Europe — interactive debate forum through online webinars and podcasts. The fourth season of autumn and winter 2021-2022 included three webinars supported by the Anna-Lindh Foundation and the ifa;
• Euro-Mediterranean dialogue initiatives bringing together researchers, artists, journalists and civil society actors around questions of culture, identity, democracy and shared Mediterranean narratives;
• Conferences, publications and policy dialogue on intercultural communication, media transformation, violent extremism prevention and cultural cooperation;
• Development of creative workshops using storytelling, arts and innovative digital tools to strengthen civic participation and social cohesion.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
CC can contribute a strong Euro-Mediterranean perspective combining research expertise, cultural dialogue and practical field experience. Through our broad networks across France, the Mediterranean, the MENA region and Africa, we can help connect researchers, artists, journalists and civil society actors from different cultural and social backgrounds.
We aim to actively contribute to ALF activities through conferences, workshops, intercultural projects, publications and youth-oriented initiatives. Our experience in media literacy, cultural cooperation and dialogue in conflict-affected societies can provide valuable input to discussions on social cohesion, inclusion and democratic resilience across the Mediterranean.
In addition, our location in the South of France allows us to organise cultural encounters, retreats and networking events in a Mediterranean environment fostering informal exchange and long-term cooperation.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
Several of our associates and fellows have extensive research and panel experience with the Anna Lindh Foundation and have been actively involved in Anna Lindh-related activities, conferences and projects. Joining the network would allow us to deepen these connections and further contribute our expertise in media literacy, cultural dialogue, youth engagement and Mediterranean cooperation.
We know that the Anna Lindh Foundation represents one of the most important platforms for intercultural dialogue and civil society cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean space. Its mission strongly corresponds to CC’s values and activities.
We would like to join the ALF Network in order to strengthen long-term cooperation with cultural and civil society actors across the Mediterranean, develop joint projects and contribute actively to building shared narratives based on dialogue, culture, diversity and mutual respect.
