General Information

The Centre for Religion, Conflict and Globalization engages in cutting-edge research, policy advice and analysis that seeks to develop alternative conceptual and practical approaches to understanding "religion" and its relationship with politics and society.
Our researchers explore religion's entanglement with issues related to migration, urbanization, gender and sexuality, development, human rights (especially Freedom of Religion or Belief), conflict resolution and peacebuilding, religion and politics across multiple geographical, cultural, political, economic and historical contexts.
Utilizing multidisciplinary approaches that draw on International Relations, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Philosophy, Law, Religious Studies, Theology and Social and Political Science, our researchers and fellows conduct theoretically innovative research and provide consultation and advice for policymakers at various different levels of government and for civil society organisations.

Mission and Objectives

Our central mission is to develop conceptual and practical approaches to understanding "religion" and its relationship with global politics, conflict, and societal change. We produce high-impact, evidence-based research that challenges conventional wisdom.
We are committed to educating the next generation of scholars and practitioners through specialized programs (MA in Religion, Conflict and Globalization), training, and curriculum development, equipping them with the analytical tools necessary to navigate these critical areas.
We actively work to foster collaborative relationships with communities, policymakers, and diverse stakeholders worldwide, ensuring our research is ethically grounded, socially relevant, and translated effectively into real-world policy and public discourse.
