Mission and Objectives

Our Vision:
CCMUP envisions an Egypt where people of all faiths and cultural backgrounds live together as full citizens in genuine and just peace, enjoy equal rights and duties, and bound by mutual understanding, shared respect, and active cooperation for the common good.

Our Mission:
CCMUP is committed to promoting interfaith and intercultural understanding, peacebuilding, and community service across Egypt and beyond. Through education, dialogue, and collaborative grassroots initiatives, our mission is to equip individuals and communities to overcome religious and cultural divides, resolve conflicts peacefully, and unite in service of the common good; building a more just, compassionate, and harmonious society based on inclusive citizenship, within Egypt and beyond.

Main Projects / Activities

To realize our vision and mission, CCMUP implements a range of strategic initiatives across three core areas:

1. Academic Workshops
We offer educational programs in Christian and Islamic studies, equipping current and future faith leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to build real interfaith peace, by organizing public seminars.

Our flagship project in that field is "Learning Journey": a unique series of conferences CCMUP organizes in partnership with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the Coptic, Catholic & Anglican Churches. The aim is to advance interfaith understanding and friendship by bringing together young students and leaders of Christian and Islamic theology to learn about each other from one another over the course of 3 or 4 days, to freely discuss religion and public life in a safe space without redlines or censorship, but only based on mutual respect, tolerance and a real desire for learning.

The program includes seminars, informal discussion times, as well as the sharing of breakfast and lunch together.

To our knowledge, such a conference is unprecedented in Egypt's modern history. We have organized 5 Journeys of Learning, since 2023, and planning its long-term continuation, thanks to the overwhelming positive feedback received.

2. Community Engagement
We organize grassroots projects and workshops within local communities to address common public issues such as environmental degradation to promote practical interfaith cooperation, empower local communities, and build lasting interfaith and intercultural peace.

3. Peace-building & Conflict Resolution
We provide trainings in different parts of the country in interfaith and intercultural dialogue, conflict resolution, reconciliation, and peacebuilding techniques, empowering individuals to become agents of sustainable peace-building.

4. Dr. Aly Elsamman Award for Peace & Dialogue
CCMUP launched the award on 30 Jan 2024, and organized two award giving ceremonies, one on 30 Jan 2025 and the second on 31 Jan 2026.
The award is named after the late Dr. Aly Elsamman who was quite an influential intellectual, writer, journalist, and a pioneer promoter of global interfaith peace, reflected in how he helped get Al-Azhar Al-Sharif to sign a treaty of cooperation with the Vatican in 1998, and similarly how he helped get a similar treaty signed between the Anglican Communion worldwide and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif on 30 Jan 2002, hence the award ceremony's date.

The Award's total financial prize is 100,000 EGP.
1st place receives 50,000 EGP
2nd place receives 30,000 EGP
3rd place receives 20,000 EGP

The Award is given to individuals, groups or associations in recognition of their promotion of interfaith and intercultural peace within Egypt.
