General Information

CIVINET Greece-Cyprus AMKE is the official national network of the CIVITAS Initiative, the European Commission’s platform (DG MOVE) supporting cities in implementing sustainable urban mobility strategies. The network also acts as the national multiplier of the EU Urban Mobility Observatory and is an active member of international and European networks such as UITP, ECF, ALICE, and the MaaS Alliance.

Since its founding in March 2018, CIVINET Greece-Cyprus has created a strong multi-level network of 123 municipalities, 6 regions, 4 national ministries, and 47 supporting organizations — representing a total of 180 stakeholders.

Mission and Objectives

The mission of CIVINET Greece-Cyprus is to promote sustainable urban mobility in Greece and Cyprus by supporting local authorities and stakeholders with the necessary tools, knowledge, and funding access. The network’s core objectives include:
•Raising awareness and building the capacity of local and regional governments and mobility stakeholders
•Providing support for urban mobility planning
•Facilitating access to EU funding and participation in mobility-related programmes
•Promoting the exchange of knowledge and best practices between cities and regions

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

CIVINET Greece-Cyprus can significantly contribute to the ALF Network in Greece by bringing mobility into the conversation about cultural inclusion and intercultural dialogue. Through our experience working with municipalities, schools, and local communities, we understand how sustainable mobility can enhance access to cultural life, support social participation, and improve everyday experiences.
We can:
•Organize participatory workshops, co-creation events, and thematic festivals that combine mobility, culture, and climate awareness (e.g. Outta Climate Festival)
•Share knowledge and resources on citizen engagement, sustainable public space use, and mobility justice from EU-funded projects
•Offer a bridge between civil society and local governments, promoting inclusive, community-based planning methods
•Support local actors in integrating mobility into their cultural and social projects for broader impact

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We wish to join the Anna Lindh Foundation Network to expand our intercultural perspective and collaborate with organizations across the Euro-Mediterranean region. We see mobility not just as a technical issue but as a human right and a cultural connector. By joining ALF, we hope to:
•Co-develop projects that intersect culture, sustainability, and social inclusion
•Share our practices in participatory planning and community-based mobility innovation
•Learn from other members working on intercultural dialogue, especially in urban and rural Mediterranean settings
•Strengthen our impact on civil society and broaden our reach beyond technical policy to include values of cooperation, diversity, and coexistence
