Cosmos Youth Association, Established in 2022 in İzmir Turkiye by group of young people, and Cosmos Youth consists of 10 active volunteer youth workers and over 800 registered volunteers. Our organization operates on a voluntary basis, with no salaried staff. We receive funding for our projects and do not have any additional income We have established communication and partnerships with more than 100 organizations. Locally, we maintain strong relationships, collaborating with the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, İzmir City Council, and ESN Turkiye on various joint initiatives.
Mission and Objectives
Our Mission
Within the framework of social cohesion, our mission is to enable young people aged 16-30 to adapt to the country they live in and subsequently to the rest of the world, strengthen their ties with local governments in these countries, and provide them with an environment where they can develop themselves.
Our Vision
Our vision is to break the prejudices brought by different cultures, enable individuals to develop themselves, provide opportunities for them to participate in democratic governance, and support young people in completing their social cohesion in a free environment where they learn about and respect differences. These differences create diversity, continuous learning, and development. Additionally, we aim to ensure that they benefit from the opportunities offered by the global environment we help to create.
Our main targets are Social Cohesion and Harmonization, Intercultural Dialogue, Gender Equality, Inclusion, Volunteering, and a Sustainable Environment for a Sustainable Future.
Main Projects / Activities
In the last two years, we have partnered in more than 30 Erasmus+ projects and organized 1 Training Course and 1 Youth Exchange in Izmir. A training course project we wrote to the European Council was approved and implemented in Izmir in July. We carried out the first phase of the KA154 project, of which we are a partner, in Izmir, and we will organize monthly face-to-face and online activities about youth participation in decision making mechanism. Locally, we participate in programs that focus on how young people can develop themselves and explore international project opportunities. Cosmos Youth is member of Izmir City Council and also has representative Through our collaborations with municipalities, we meet young people at festivals and events and conduct workshops.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Through the effective use of social media, we have reached over 30,000 young people and continue to grow. By leveraging engaging and fun content, we aim to enhance interaction among young people and inspire them to take action. Thanks to our local activities, we have met hundreds of young people and established meaningful connections within the community. With our team of expert volunteers from various fields, we are able to organize workshops on a wide range of topics. We are experienced in hosting and coordinating projects.
To contribute to the Network in Türkiye, we aim to use our skills and experience to expand its reach and impact. Our extensive experience in organizing and coordinating projects provides us with the opportunity to create meaningful opportunities for young people. By combining organizational expertise, creative engagement, and inclusive approaches, we strive to strengthen the Network and encourage young people to actively participate in their communities and beyond.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
The name of our association is Cosmos, which generally means "universe." However, this word is often used to refer to an orderly or harmonious universe. Our goal is to break down the prejudices brought by different cultures, foster self-improvement, enable participation in democratic management, and support the completion of social cohesion in a free environment. We work to ensure that young people feel comfortable in the communities they live in.
Through our initiatives, we place great importance on including disadvantaged young people and aim to ensure they have equal access to opportunities for personal and professional development. With projects focused on self-improvement, social inclusion, and building self-confidence, we strive to help these young individuals overcome barriers and actively participate in their communities.
We believe that awareness, change, development, and innovative thinking begin with youth, and we want to be part of this movement. Since we share similar goals, we believe this network will be highly beneficial and productive for us and for young people.
