Dar al Yasmin is an NGO based in the Netherlands, dedicated to supporting newcomers—primarily refugees—in finding their way and building a future. We also actively contribute to intercultural dialogue and fostering meaningful connections across communities.
Mission and Objectives
Within these broader goals, we focus in particular on well-being (mental health and self-expression), education, and an entrepreneurial mindset (employment and entrepreneurship). In doing so, we make extensive use of creative and artistic methods to support and engage the people we work with.
Main Projects / Activities
Dream Agency is an initiative focused on well-being and self-expression. One of its core projects is Heart to Heart, a telephone helpline for newcomers. We also provide personal coaching and use a wide range of artistic tools, including improvisational theatre, storytelling, music, drawing and painting workshops, and creative photography projects.
Another major initiative is Your Move, aimed at supporting asylum seekers early in their journey by encouraging active future-building through personal development, language learning, professional skills training, and civic integration.
We are also involved in projects related to civic engagement, which we carry out under the name Kouros Public Fieldwork.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
We are an organisation that strengthens connections between people from different cultural backgrounds, with a particular focus on Arab and European cultures. In this sense, our goals are closely aligned.
More specifically, we are launching a project centred on the Mediterranean Sea—a space of connection (Mare Nostrum), but also of boundaries and rich cultural diversity. Many people feel a deep affection for Mediterranean culture, not only those who live along its shores, but also many people from Northern Europe. Through this shared appreciation, in our upcoming project we aim to evoke positive emotions and tell hopeful stories of connection and belonging.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
The aims of our organisation Dar al Yasmin Foundation are very in line with the aims of ALF Network.
