Education for Change (Edukimi për Ndryshim) is a non-profit, non-partisan organisation established in Tirana and registered by Court Decision No. 1941 on 9 September 2024 to promote positive educational, social, democratic, environmental, and community development across Albania. Built on the principles defined in its Statute, the organisation works to strengthen the quality of education, support family wellbeing, empower youth, advance human rights and gender equality, and reinforce institutional mechanisms for child protection, social services, and civic participation. Education for Change collaborates with schools, municipalities, community centres, and civil society actors to design and deliver training programs, awareness campaigns, youth empowerment activities, cultural and heritage initiatives, environmental actions, and community-based interventions. The organisation is guided by values of inclusion, transparency, social responsibility, and alignment with national priorities and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Mission and Objectives
Mission: Education for Change is a non-profit, non-partisan organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth, families, and communities across Albania through education, empowerment, social inclusion, and participatory democracy. Our mission is to foster positive and sustainable change by strengthening the education system, supporting vulnerable groups, promoting human rights and equality, and cultivating active citizenship and community resilience. We work to create a society where all individuals—especially young people, women, and marginalized communities—can learn, participate, and thrive in safe, inclusive, and supportive environments.
Objectives
1. Improve the quality of education and support schools and teachers
•Provide training, mentoring, and modern teaching methodologies for educators.
•Promote inclusive, open, and student-centered school environments.
•Strengthen collaboration between schools, families, and communities.
2. Empower youth and enhance their participation in decision-making
•Build youth skills through non-formal education, leadership programs, and civic engagement.
•Support youth councils, youth-led initiatives, and local participation mechanisms.
•Foster employability, digital literacy, creativity, and social entrepreneurship.
3. Promote democracy, active citizenship, and a culture of peace
•Implement civic education programs on democratic values, human rights, and rule of law.
•Facilitate community dialogues, awareness campaigns, and participatory processes.
•Encourage solidarity, intercultural understanding, and peacebuilding.
4. Advance environmental protection and climate awareness
•Engage children and youth in environmental actions and eco-education.
•Promote sustainable community practices and awareness on climate challenges.
•Build partnerships for environmental resilience and green citizenship.
Main Projects / Activities
1. Education Quality Improvement & School Support

2. Youth Empowerment, Skills Development & Participation

•Mentorship activities connecting young people with professionals, institutions, and community actors.
3. Democracy, Citizenship Education & Intercultural Dialogue

•Civic education sessions for youth on democratic values, human rights, gender equality, and rule of law.
•Awareness campaigns, debates, and community dialogues promoting tolerance, inclusion, intercultural understanding, and conflict prevention.

4. Environmental Education & Climate Action

•Environmental awareness workshops for children and youth on climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable living.

•Youth-led environmental clubs and initiatives promoting zero-waste, recycling, and sustainable community practices.
•Partnerships with local institutions and organisations to strengthen environmental resilience and green citizenship.
5. Community Engagement & Support for Vulnerable Groups

•Programs supporting Roma and Egyptian communities, migrant and refugee families, and youth at risk through education, empowerment, and community outreach.
•Initiatives promoting social inclusion, anti-discrimination, and equal access to opportunities.
•Collaboration with local mechanisms for child protection, family support, and prevention of violence and exploitation.
•Cultural heritage and creative community projects fostering identity, belonging, and cultural participation.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Education for Change can contribute to the Anna Lindh Network in Albania by bringing its expertise in youth empowerment, civic education, intercultural dialogue, and community engagement into joint national initiatives. Through our work with schools, municipalities, youth groups, and vulnerable communities, we can mobilize diverse local actors and ensure that the Network’s values of dialogue, inclusion, and cooperation reach grassroots level.
We can actively support the Network by:
• Facilitating youth-focused intercultural and educational activities that strengthen dialogue, tolerance, and democratic participation in schools and community spaces.
• Co-creating joint actions with other network members on human rights, gender equality, cultural understanding, and environmental citizenship.
• Sharing our methodological experience in non-formal education, community outreach, awareness campaigns, and school-community collaboration.
• Supporting national events of the Network by providing trainers, youth facilitators, creative methods, and local partnerships.
• Engaging marginalized groups—such as Roma, Egyptian, migrant and refugee youth—to ensure inclusive participation in Network initiatives.
• Promoting the Anna Lindh Foundation’s mission through our ongoing projects, communication channels, and local partnerships.
Through these contributions, Education for Change can help strengthen cooperation among civil society actors in Albania, amplify youth voices, and foster a culture of peace, dialogue, and shared understanding across communities.
