General Information

The Egyptian Federation for Development and Social Protection Policies was established in 2014 under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Solidarity and under Law 84 of 2002, and The registration was re-enrolled as a civil institution in the Central Administration of Associations and Unions at the Ministry of Social Solidarity No. 973 of 2021 and is subject to the provisions of Law 149 of 2019 regarding the regulation of the practice of civil work. The idea of establishing the Egyptian Federation for Development and Protection Policies based on United Nations Resolution No. 16 of 2012, which considered social protection as a fundamental human right and obligated governments to abide by it, and also on the road map called for by the German Friedrich-Abert Foundation in August 2013, which resulted in building an alliance for social protection floors in North Africa and the Middle East in more than 11 countries.
The Federation also established "Draya Forum" in 2020 as a research center "Think Tank" specialized in conducting research and scientific studies in the political, social, economic and environmental fields.
UN Consultative Status: “ECOSOC”
The Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) granted the Egyptian Federation for Development and Social Protection Policies special “consultative status” in accordance with Article 71 of the Charter of the United Nations, which stipulates That: “The Economic and Social Council may make appropriate arrangements for consultation with non-governmental bodies concerned with matters within its competence.

By conducting studies, research, and implementing projects, we aim to ensure integration with the state's efforts to create a stable society where citizens experience a decent quality of life."

Main Projects / Activities

Fourth: Federation’s projects
1- The “Sanad” project to support families at risk, funded by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, in 27 governorates, with a total of 113 targeted prison graduates.

2- The project to support and build the capabilities of employees, sub-administrative boards of the Egyptian Red Crescent, and volunteers in 31 Egyptian universities in 27 governorates.

3- The project to establish and rehabilitate the social protection network and build their capacities and skills at the level of Egypt’s governorates, which includes 64 institutions and civil society organizations.
4- The poverty reduction project to support the poor and marginalized groups of ex-prisoners and Al-Gharamin “those in debt”.
5- The Economic Empowerment Project that supports at-risk families by providing non-refundable grants to implement small income-generating projects.
