The Egyptian Forum for Sustainable Development (ESDF) is a national non-profit organization established in 2012 and dedicated to promoting sustainable development in Egypt in the different sectors, through advocacy, awareness raising and developing the capacities of different stakeholders, government agencies, civil society organizations, academia, media, women and youth. ESDF has been focusing on education for sustainable development and disaster risk reduction, among other fields. Since 2021, ESDF has been serving as the co- Chair of the Arab Youth Advisory Group for DRR, one of the major stakeholder groups established by United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction in Arab countries (UNDRR ROAS) aiming to monitor and contribute to the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Arab region.
Mission and Objectives
The Egyptian Forum for Sustainable Development is dedicated to promoting sustainable development in Egypt by supporting research, facilitating knowledge exchange, and fostering collaboration among government, academia, and civil society. It aims to influence policies and practices that ensure social, economic, and environmental sustainability, while raising public awareness and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Main Projects / Activities
The Egyptian Forum for Sustainable Development undertakes a range of projects and activities including research studies on sustainability issues, policy advocacy, capacity-building workshops, public awareness campaigns, and collaborative initiatives with government, academic institutions, and civil society organizations. These activities aim to advance sustainable development practices across social, economic, and environmental sectors in Egypt.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
I can contribute to the Network in my country by leveraging my experience in sustainable development to support knowledge sharing, collaborative research, and capacity-building initiatives. I can engage with local stakeholders, including government agencies, academic institutions, and civil society organizations, to implement projects aligned with the Network’s goals, raise awareness on sustainability issues, and foster partnerships that drive social, economic, and environmental progress.
