General Information

Eramena is a youth-led social enterprise founded in 2020 and based in Cairo, Egypt. Dedicated to fostering intercultural understanding, inclusion, and diversity within local communities. By creating platforms for dialogue and collaboration, Eramena empowers individuals from different cultural backgrounds to connect, share experiences, and celebrate their unique identities. Through a range of community-driven programs, workshops, and cultural initiatives, Eramena promotes social cohesion, combats stereotypes, and encourages active participation in building an inclusive society. Our mission is to bridge cultural divides and contribute to a more tolerant and interconnected future for all.

Mission and Objectives

Backed by the belief that development sector can be youth-led and youth-driven, Eramena’s core concepts revolve around 3 core objectives:

The core objectives are:

1. Interculturality: Promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding among diverse communities, fostering a sense of shared identity.
2. Euro-Mediterranean Youth Cooperation: Facilitate collaboration between young people across the Euro-Mediterranean region, encouraging cross-border dialogue and joint initiatives.
3. Inclusivity: Advocate for equal opportunities and participation for all, ensuring marginalized voices are heard and represented in community and cultural projects.

Main Projects / Activities

The work of the organisation is distributed on two different areas:
- 1. International youth work
- 2. Local and national youth work

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

1. Actively recruit and engage Egyptian youth (18-30) in ALF initiatives, building on our "Culture Coaster" success that reached 100+ young people

2. Share proven methodologies using arts and movement as tools for intercultural exchange, offering replicable models from our "Meditteritmo" and "Roots of Rhythms" projects

3. Connect Egyptian ALF members with European partners through our existing networks (Italian Cultural Institute Cairo, Dance in Art Netherlands, Erasmus+ contacts)

4. Train network members in project coordination, non-formal education, and digital communication strategies

5. Implement programs reaching marginalized communities (youth with limited cultural access)

6. Professionally document network activities and create educational resources showcasing achievements and supporting future funding applications

7. Lead joint initiatives on heritage preservation, youth inclusion, and arts for social change across Mediterranean networks

8. Offer CARE Circles approach combining heritage preservation with community wellbeing as a replicable model for network members

9. Leverage our track record in international cultural cooperation to strengthen Egypt's position within the broader ALF network and facilitate cross-border collaboration

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Eramena seeks to continue as an ALF Network member because the network aligns perfectly with our core mission of fostering intercultural understanding and Euro-Mediterranean youth cooperation. The ALF Network provides an essential platform for connecting with like-minded organizations across the Mediterranean, accessing partnership opportunities that strengthen our projects, and contributing our expertise in arts-based dialogue and youth empowerment to a larger movement. The network's focus on youth voices, inclusive programming, and transforming dialogue into action resonates deeply with our values and work. Continued membership ensures we remain connected to resources, knowledge, and partnerships that enhance our ability to serve Egyptian youth and communities while contributing meaningfully to building bridges across the Mediterranean region.
