General Information

City of Munich- Education Department /International Unit- responsible for international contacts and programmes for teacher and student exchange, staff: 6 (2 part-time) budget for school partnerships (subsidies) / budget for student exchange and study trips/ multinational programmes/ twin city projects funding from city council / education budget school partnerships between Munich schools and schools worldwide (ca 90 per year), 10-12 student programmes per year , 3-5 teacher programmes per year, 2-4 seminars per year, no scholarships 5. Partners: Municipalities (International Units), Partners in Educational Organisations worldwide

Mission and Objectives

Our mission is: Promoting international exchange and cross-cultural learning between young people in Europe and worldwide Exchanging experience and know-how on education with partners in Europe and worldwide (teacher programmes) Cooperating with partners and experts on education and youth exchange within the EU and worldwide (networks, delegations) Offering teacher inset-training for school partnerships and international programmes Training young leaders working with our groups (voluntary basis)

Main Projects / Activities

Students: We organise 10-12 international programmes per year for Munich students (15-19 years old): 3 exchanges (US, Italy, Israel), 4 language study programmes (England, Scotland, Ireland, France), 3-4 multinational programmes (mostly EU-Youth funded) including Poland, Latvia, Slovakia, Estonia, Finland and Denmark Teachers: we organise 3-4 teachers programmes (mostly exchanges) per year (US, Ukraine, Poland, Finland, Latvia and Estonia (07) we offer inset-training for teachers from the Ukraine we offer training seminars for Munich teachers on cross-cultural subjects Educational networks: We represent the City of Munich Education Department in networks such as Educating Cities, Euro cities, IFDMYE, Anna Lindh Foundation and we organise programmes for delegations from abroad
