General Information

It is a registered association accoding to the Finnish Association law with Annual General meeting, board and various committees and ad hoc working groups under the board. The work is done mostly through board members,voluteers and project secretaries. This year an Executive Director is expected to be appointed. The annual buget is appr. 25 000 euros. Source of funding through project funding, membership fees and with significant support from the City of Helsinki. Conrete activities include membership seminars on actual topics, information sharing, advocacy related to the European and neighbouring countries collaboration. Special field is intercity collaboration between capitals and othe cities e.g. through EUROCAPITALES organisation. Main partners include other European Movement organisations, cities in the capital region, EUROCAPITALES, Nordic and Baltic sister organisation and efforts to be involved in EU neighbourhood programs and projects.

Mission and Objectives

To advance positive public disussion and debate about European integration and its enlargement; to advocate active participation of citizen in elections and to promote cultural collaboration within Europe and its neighbouring countries.

Main Projects / Activities

Seminars, membership information, projects and events on special occasions like the Europe Day on the 9th May and UN Day on he 24th October. Currently advocating the improvement of communication like railway tunnel to Tallinn and Rail Baltica to Mid- and Soutouth Europe and beoynd.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

To advance the information and knowledge about the necessity of dialogue and collaboration over boarders and combat the wrong type of populism and nationalism gaining ground in our country and other European countries and beyond.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

To learn from the experiences of the ALF Network and contribute to its internal debate, actions and emphasize the importance of the intercity collaboration and closer cooperation with civil society actors and citizen in general.
