General Information

FILOXENIA,the Greek word for "hospitality" is a Greek NGO. It runs a Youth Centre in the rural area of Kryoneri and supports local youth and cultural structures in many towns and villages around. Activities: Youth Information, Youth free-time and creative activities; Promotion of alternative forms of tourism & sustainable development; International Youth Exchange Program; training seminars; EVS and Leonardo Da Vinci; Grundtvig; Cooperation with schools, development of multimedia projects. Networking: Youth County Council of Korinthia; Corinthian Youth Centers network; EVS Network “Creative Cooperations”; LABORATORIUM “ Network for Employment in the Third Sector”; coordinator of Ecocitizens European Network for Environmental Education and Intervention.

Mission and Objectives

* To support adolescent communication and the development of a European Identity in a Europe without borders, racism or xenophobia * To encourage youth and adults mobility in Europe and out of Europe through EU and International Youth program * To support honorary work and voluntary services * To offer training opportunities for youth and adults, * To initiate interest and concern for the environment and ecology, as well as the encouragement of ecological and agricultural tourism * To promote the preservation of cultural heritage through direct involvement of adolescents in cultural activities * To inform young people and young farmers

Main Projects / Activities

Youth free time activities. Educational programs with schools: intercultural learning, human rights education, arts, environment, etc. Intercultural projects: international and European youth exchanges, European Voluntary Service, European training courses and seminars, anti-racist campaigns. Training course: for European volunteers and trainees, youth workers, educators, responsible of associations. Environmental education and action: in the region of Kryoneri and Stymphalia.
