General Information

The Catalan Fund for Development Cooperation (FCCD) is an association comprising more than 321 local and regional authorities committed to development cooperation and international solidarity from Catalonia. The FCCD has over 37 years of expertise in the field of international cooperation and solidarity, through networking and collaboration with Catalan municipalities. The organization is structured in thematic & operational areas, and has a total of 23 staff employed. Its sources of funding are the budget from municipalities; Catalan Government, multilateral agencies of development, and the European Union. The main modalities of action include the deployment of development cooperation projects in the field of refugee inclusion, human rights defense; support to forcedly displaced people, enviornment protection and the social inclusion of socially excluded groups; mainly operating in Subsaharian Africa (Senegal, Gambia), the Mediterranean (Morocco), Latin America (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras), and the Middle East (Lebanon, Syria), and Balkands (Greece, Bosnia, Serbia), always with the involvement of partner municipalities. The main partners involved in the organization's activities are the partner municipalities; NGOs in the field of international cooperation, universities, etc,

Mission and Objectives

The mission of FCCD is to promote, defend and contribute to the improvement of development cooperation carried out by catalan municipalism, to articulate local solidarity with other municipalities and cities around the world, and to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.

Main Projects / Activities

The FCCD is divided into comissions/working groups: Municipal comission; Migration and Development Comission; Human Rights Comission and Local World Refugee Comission. Also, the FCCD is composed of thematic/Geogrpahical areas: Human Rights Department; Africa, Asia and Mediterranean Department; Latin America Department; and Humanitarian Assistance Department. Some of the key projects/campaigns to be highlighted are: Refugee Local World Campaign (launched to offer support to refugees and forcedly displaced population); Cities Defending Human Rights (project launched to offer support to prosecuted Human Right defenders in Europe); SHABABUNA (project to inform youth in Morocco on irregular migration hazards and on economic opportunities in the region), COMET (Project to create complementary pathways for people in need of international protection), among others.

Contribute with information from ongoing projects in the field of development cooperation; contribute in debates; contribute with know-how from local municipalities from Catalonia; contribute with contacts (NGOs, civil society actors) worldwide.
