The Fons Menorquí is a non-profit organization formed by the eight town councils, and the Insular Council and the Government of the Balearic Islands. We collect and manage the resources that the island's public institutions allocate to international cooperation and solidarity. It manages an annual budget of around €1,200,000 and has 4 employees. We promote, finance and execute actions that seek to respond to the challenges currently posed by the globalized world. We focus on four thematic axes: Sustainability and climate change, migratory movements, education and coexistence and gender perspective.Mission and Objectives
The Fons Menorquí is the entity of the administrations of Menorca that proposes and develops cooperation policies on the island, through the promotion, financing and realization of actions and projects. The Fund supports Menorcan entities, public and private, so that they can face the global challenges that affect the local area. The reason for being is to contribute to global change so that the poorest populations can achieve quality of life, well-being and the full exercise of their rights. We are the reference organization in Menorca in transformative cooperation. COOPERATION We are committed to a model that guarantees a peer-to-peer exchange. TRANSFORMATION We understand cooperation for transformation as a tool of solidarity and justice. HUMAN RIGHTS. We are committed to promoting the defense and realization of human rights ENVIRONMENT: We seek the sustainability of people's lives in balance with nature. FAIRNESS. We aim to deal with the structural causes of people's inequalities. It includes actions to reduce the effects of climate change and promote access to water, sanitation and food sovereignty. - Migratory movements and refuge. It includes actions to improve living conditions and guarantee the rights of the migrant, displaced and refugee population. - Education and coexistence. It encompasses the actions to promote a critical, engaged and active citizenship with the transformation of the global and local reality. - Equality.
