Gençeller, founded in 2024, is a grassroots non-governmental and non-profit organization focused on empowering youth and women in rural areas. It was established by eight founders in their hometown, with no employed staff, relying on the commitment of its members and volunteers.
The foundation for Gençeller began earlier through its President, İrem Ayan, an experienced youth worker and board member of the Swedish organization ProQvi. The organization has participated in e-learning activities on the SALTO platform, focusing on disadvantaged youth. In December 2024, İrem attended the Turkish National Agency’s training course on European Solidarity Corps (ESC).
In 2025, Gençeller plans to apply for Erasmus+ and ESC opportunities with its partner ProQvi to expand its reach and impact. The organization is committed to creating inclusive, educational, and creative opportunities for marginalized communities.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Gençeller seeks to contribute to the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) Network by actively collaborating with other organizations in Türkiye and beyond. As a representative of disadvantaged youth and women in rural areas, we bring unique perspectives and challenges to the table. By sharing our experiences and learning from others in the network, we aim to:
Promote ALF’s values and mission at the grassroots level.
Foster partnerships that enhance youth empowerment, education, and cultural exchange.
Support diversity, inclusion, and gender equality through innovative approaches inspired by the network’s collective knowledge.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
Gençeller’s partnership with ProQvi has shown us the immense value of being part of a strong and resourceful network like ALF. Joining the ALF Network will enable us to:
Actively engage in national and international collaborations.
Access resources, training, and opportunities to strengthen our initiatives.
Align with ALF’s values and mission to create impactful change in our community.
We believe that being part of the ALF Network will not only help us grow as an organization but also amplify our ability to serve underprivileged youth and women in rural areas.
