General Information

Gruppo Pensionati Vanchiglietta APS is a historic association based in Turin, Italy, with deep roots in the city’s civic and resistance traditions. Founded in 1945 and officially established in 1949, the association has always been characterized by a dynamic and forward-looking leadership, combining both cultural and sporting dimensions.

Since 2019, the organization has grown from 1,000 to over 11,000 members, supported by a strong network of volunteers and staff. Located near the Einaudi University Campus, it has become a vibrant hub for music, cultural experimentation, and intergenerational dialogue.

Today, the association serves as a key reference point for Turin’s underground culture and a vital meeting place for young people, fostering creativity, social inclusion, and civic participation. Its mission aligns with European values of community engagement, lifelong learning, and intercultural exchange.

Building on its legacy, the Vanchiglietta Retirees Group actively promotes projects that encourage youth participation, artistic innovation, and sustainable community development—making it a natural partner for European cooperation initiatives.

Mission and Objectives

Our Association manages Bocciofila Vanchiglietta a traditional old style bocce ball place.
Bocciofila Vanchiglietta is a dynamic cultural hub in Turin dedicated to promoting community participation and creativity across generations and backgrounds. It regularly hosts concerts, residencies, and interdisciplinary workshops, offering young artists—particularly from migrant and multicultural communities—a platform for artistic growth and public engagement. Its inclusive, community-driven approach ensures that the artistic residency becomes a meaningful space of encounter between artists, local youth, and audiences.

Main Projects / Activities

TRAP321 – Trapezi, poetics of writing and composition for young authors, a non-linear exploration into the Turin Trap music scene, in collaboration with the ToDay Festival.

Hack 4 Cult – Collaboration in the CulturAgile – participation without barriers project, aimed at developing an app to improve the accessibility of cultural events for users with disabilities. From this initiative, during 2021–2022, a research group and the Vicina Arcipelago Urbano project were established. VICINA developed an app designed to facilitate inclusion and map proximity-based community spaces in the city of Turin.

Vinoltre – A natural wine fair created to raise awareness about responsible drinking.

Lido Dora Vanchiglietta – Winner of the ToNite call for projects. It involves the creation of a grass-based urban lido in Parco Crescenzio, designed as both a real and metaphorical urban beach — a place for social decompression, softly illuminated at night, suitable for hosting low-sensory-impact events that promote an alternative urban environment for free cultural gatherings.

Fiumi di Culture. Affluenze – Influenze – Confluenze – A project aimed at promoting intercultural dialogue in the city of Turin through the recognition and enhancement of the city’s multicultural intangible heritage. The initiative adopts a participatory approach involving local residents and diverse community groups. Supported by “Torino che cultura!”, the project includes community festivals and cultural initiatives with Asian and North-African communities of new residents, encouraging mutual understanding of knowledge, traditions, rituals, and cultural specificities.

Intrecci – A festival for young artists who have chosen Bocciofila Vanchiglietta as an alternative stage, which has become the foundation for the new artistic program of the venue for the 2025–2027 period.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Our association and Bocciofila Vanchiglietta can contribute to the Network in Italy by offering a dynamic and inclusive cultural space that connects artistic creation, civic participation, and intercultural dialogue.

We can host and co-organize activities such as artistic residencies, workshops, and public events focused on Mediterranean identities, youth empowerment, and sustainable urban cultures. Through our strong relationships with local communities from North Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia, we can facilitate encounters and collaborations that reflect the diversity of contemporary Italy.

By bridging artistic expression with social innovation, we aim to strengthen the Italian network’s capacity to reach younger generations, promote mutual understanding, and develop new models of cooperation between cultural institutions, grassroots groups, and international partners.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Our association manages a youth cultural centre that has gradually become a place for artistic residencies and a meeting point for community associations from North Africa, the Mediterranean, South America, and Asia. The centre aims to grow as a national and international hub for emerging and established artists, fostering cultural exchange and creative collaboration.

As a space rooted in civic participation and intercultural dialogue, Bocciofila Vanchiglietta could play a valuable role within the Anna Lindh Foundation Network by hosting transnational residencies, intercultural workshops, and co-creation programs that connect young people, artists, and community organizations from across the Euro-Mediterranean area.

Its inclusive approach, combining artistic practice, social engagement, and community-based research, makes it an ideal partner for initiatives promoting mutual understanding, active citizenship, and sustainable cultural cooperation in line with the values of the Anna Lindh Foundation.
