General Information

Haddouta Mesreya Association for development and services
Introduction:
Haddouta Mesreya Association established its activity in 2014 and was founded officially in 2018 to promote development for marginalized Egyptian communities by awakening authentic humanity within them and encouraging lifelong learning process. We believe that the process of lifelong learning increases the awareness of individuals and communities of their reality of their existence and understanding of themselves, their missions and the world around them. This in turn can contribute to an aware constructive society capable of bringing change, development and transformation.
Our primary focus is on women and kids as we believe that they are the vulnerable categories in our society due to the patriarchal culture which favorites males over females
Our story
We are a group of friends and friends of friends who decided to give back to our community; to support girls to get access to higher education. Many of the group members got educational scholarships inside and outside Egypt to pursue their dreams and experienced personal and professional benefit of being lifelong learners. We do believe that giving back is one of our duties to our beloved country Egypt to support girls to have the same experience in fulfilling their dreams.
Many of the board directors’ members and assembly members team are graduates from Coady international institute, St. Francis Xavier, Canada and all of them work in the field of development in national and international organizations.

Main Projects / Activities

Our projects:
1. I am a genuine Egyptian project (2019 - present)
The project works on empowering girls and women socially, where they find a role in their societies and become active citizens through community work and our mentorship program. The project achieves that by working on developing the girls and young women skills, sense of responsibility, belonging, peaceful coexistence and their understanding of humanitarian values.
I am a genuine Egyptian. It is a mentorship program for girls who are studying in high schools and universities.. The project offers monthly allowance to help them cover their tuition and school/university needs, as most of these girls are from low-income families and live in remote or slum areas. This is coming as a contribution to alleviating the hardships that women and girls suffer in patriarchal societies, being the weakest link when economic challenges prevail and the first to drop out of schools.

The project goals:
I. To enhance the leadership skills and the values of responsibility, belonging and peaceful co-existence of girls who are studying in university and high school and are in need to continue their college education and to be prepared for the job market.
II. To keep children in school and prevent them from drop-out by enhancing their reading and writing skills and practicing the human values in creative activities to be applied in their daily life.

We worked with 500 volunteers, 300 children in elementary school, and 150 women
