Impro Nomade ASBL is a small non-profit organization dedicated to improvisational theatre and participatory arts. The association operates with a flexible team, collaborating with freelance artists and partners on a project-by-project basis. Between 2025 and 2026, we conducted workshops in St. Gilles prison, worked with unaccompanied minors through funding from the Médiathèque Nouvelle, and organized multiple improvisation workshops for adults and adolescents. We hosted our first international artist-led workshop, collaborated with an inclusive Erasmus+ project, and produced participatory performances with local community members. Currently, we are supporting a participatory theatre company (Officinae Minimae Cie) in creating a new youth-oriented show, which received a research grant from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. Our modalities of action include workshops, artistic residencies, collaborative projects, performances, and intercultural exchange. Main partners include local cultural institutions, schools, community organizations, and international artistic collaborators.
Mission and Objectives
Impro Nomade ASBL is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting culture, education, and intercultural exchange through artistic activities. Its mission focuses on:
- Developing and promoting theatre and improvisational theatre across diverse audiences, including those with less access to culture;
- Enhancing artistic awareness and creativity in children and adults through theatre, improvisation, body expression, visual arts, writing, sound creation, and other artistic practices;
- Supporting research, training, and cultural animation in theatre, improvisation, and creative expression.
The association operates in Belgium and abroad, fostering participation, inclusion, and intercultural dialogue through arts-based activities.
Main Projects / Activities
- Organizing and leading theatre and improvisation workshops, courses, and masterclasses for children, adults, and vulnerable populations (e.g., in prisons, refugee minors);
- Creating, producing, and performing live theatrical and audiovisual works;
- Conducting training and workshops applying improvisational theatre to personal development, communication, and artistic expression;
- Promoting cultural exchange, artistic collaboration, and networking opportunities at local, national, and international levels;
- Publishing and disseminating artistic and cultural materials to support its educational and intercultural mission.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
We can contribute to the Anna Lindh Foundation Network in Belgium by sharing our expertise in participatory and improvisational theatre to foster intercultural dialogue and social inclusion. Through workshops, collaborative projects, and community performances, we can engage diverse audiences—including vulnerable groups such as unaccompanied minors and people in prison—in creative and inclusive activities. We can also facilitate peer-to-peer exchanges by documenting and sharing best practices, co-creating artistic projects with other civil society actors, and supporting cross-border collaborations. By connecting local communities, artists, and cultural institutions, we aim to strengthen the Network’s capacity to promote cultural understanding, creativity, and active citizenship across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
We want to join the ALF Network to connect with like-minded professionals across the Euro-Mediterranean region, exchange experiences, and strengthen my skills in intercultural dialogue through arts-based practices. Participating in the Network will allow me to collaborate on innovative projects, learn from peers who face similar challenges in civil society work, and share my experience in participatory theatre with diverse audiences. We are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant community that fosters creativity, inclusion, and mutual understanding, while bringing back new knowledge and inspiration to enrich my own work and local initiatives.
