General Information

AIIJ is a non-profit organisation, founded and based in Malaga since 2003, by a group of young
people who, after a life-changing experience abroad, felt the need to share it with other young
people, collectives and associations. Their aim was to contribute to overall development and
improve the quality of life through methodologies based on a non-formal education and experiential
learning. The founding members’ extensive experience in both local and international project
management, along with their relevant higher education backgrounds, has enabled them to build a
team of skilled and experienced professionals.

Mission and Objectives

Aiij vision is Being a reference organisation for youths, institutions and professional youth workers, both locally and internationally, for providing opportunities and real alternatives that contribute to their comprehensive development and thus building a fairer, more peaceful and inclusive society. AIIj´s mission is Contributing to the overall development and improvement of the quality of life of citizens, especially young people.

Main Projects / Activities

1. Gender Equality & Social Inclusion
School for Gender Equity: Educates secondary students about gender equality, promotes active participation, and fights gender-based violence through critical thinking and creativity.
Microrrelatos Contest on Gender-Based Violence: Encourages young people to reflect on gender violence through short storytelling.
2. Youth Participation & Volunteering
Voluntarízate: Promotes and trains young people for local and international volunteering.
Info-Europa: Provides guidance on scholarships, EU programs, and international opportunities for youth participation.
3. Entrepreneurship & Personal Development
Employability & Skills Training: Provides training in key competencies to improve job readiness and entrepreneurship skills.
Creativity & Innovation Programs: Encourages young people to develop an entrepreneurial mindset beyond just business creation, integrating art and creativity into their learning process.
4. Peacebuilding & Interculturality
Diversity & Inclusion Projects: Supports coexistence and mutual respect among people from different cultural backgrounds.
Cooperation for Development: Works with disadvantaged communities to promote education, social justice, and economic sustainability.
5. Healthy & Sustainable Living
Mental Health & Well-being Initiatives: Provides tools for emotional well-being, self-care, and resilience.
Sustainability Programs: Encourages environmental awareness and sustainable lifestyles through education and practical activities.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

If Asociación Iniciativa Internacional Joven (AIIJ) wants to contribute to the youth development network in its country, it can play a key role in several ways:

1. Strengthening Collaboration with Other Organizations
Partnering with local NGOs, educational institutions, and government agencies to expand the reach of youth programs.
Joining national and international networks focused on youth empowerment, gender equality, and social inclusion.
2. Expanding Volunteer and Exchange Opportunities
Encouraging more young people to engage in local and international volunteering through programs like Voluntarízate and Info-Europa.
Partnering with European initiatives such as Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps to send and receive volunteers.
3. Advocating for Youth Rights and Policies
Collaborating with policymakers to ensure that youth concerns (education, employment, mental health, gender equality) are included in national strategies.
Organizing forums, workshops, and campaigns to amplify youth voices and promote civic engagement.
4. Promoting Employment & Entrepreneurship Programs
Creating training programs, mentoring, and networking events to help young people gain employment and entrepreneurial skills.
Partnering with companies and business incubators to increase youth employability and support start-ups.
5. Advancing Cultural Exchange & Peacebuilding
Hosting intercultural events, exchange programs, and diversity training to promote social cohesion and tolerance.
Collaborating with migrant and minority organizations to support inclusion and fight discrimination.
6. Raising Awareness on Social Issues
Running awareness campaigns on gender equality, climate action, and mental health to educate young people and encourage activism.
Using digital platforms to share success stories, research, and best practices on youth empowerment.
