ResearchGeneral Information
Institute of Slavonic Philology at the Jagiellonian University is the oldest at its kind in Poland. It was established in the XIX century. Our staff consists of 36 scholars and 12 PhD students in various fields. Each year about 60 students enter our Institute and start studying in one of four chairs (Chair of Bulgarian and Macedonian Philology, Chair of Serbian, Croatian and Slovenian Philology, Chair of Czech Philology, Chair of Slovak Philology). Our Institute offers a choice of M.A. seminars in the following areas: literature, linguistics, translation studies. The Institute cooperates on a regular basis with many university centers in Poland and worldwide.Mission and Objectives
The mission of the Institute is to promote new research in field of Slavonic cultures, which is defined broadly to include a variety of research activities from Slavonic languages and literature teaching to intercultural studies on religion, dialogue and common heritage.Main Projects / Activities
